Well, I got the results of my MRI back today. It came back that I had a small stroke. My doctor is sent me for some bloodwork; SED rate, Arthritis Panel, CBC. A She ordered STAT bloodwork. And WILL be sending me to a Neurologist. At first she wanted to send me to Mass. General to see a Neuro Surgeon, but decided to send me to a Neurologist near me, and then if THAT doctor wanted to send me to Mass. General......... She also called the Radiologist to pull up the MRI I had in 04; which the report was negative, and this latest MRI. So, I will go back to my doctor on Monday. Hey, it can always be worse!! I AM in shock, I must admit. She prescribed Fiorinal for headache pain, and Compazine for the puking. I will keep you all updated. I am not worried, as I trust God, and God tastes most excellent care of me!! I just wanted to updated my family!!

My prayers and some good, positive thoughts headed your way KC. Stay strong.

I have cheated death many times. As I grew older it occured to me that God had spared me for a reason. Now I go very far out of my way to help others.
Remember, God will strengthen you through adversity.

It's not what happens to you but how you handle it.

We all pray for you !

TheKnifeCollector--
I am sorry to hear this. I know a little about these issues. I don't know how much information you care to post on a public forum--
but a few things that you need to consider are:

Where was the stroke.
How extensive?
Why see a neurosurgeon at Mass. General? Why not a neurologist? They are not the same thing.

Do not assume, do not worry, do not ANYTHING without consulting with a neurologist. Prefereably one with a stroke specialty.

Keep in mind that the Harvard Medical School and it's outlying hospitals (including Mass. General, Brigham & Women's, Beth-Israel-Deaconess, and Childrens) have the largest and all-around best Neurology Service that exists.
However, there are clear advantages to speaking with a local doctor.

I can provide further information if you wish. Feel free to PM me your phone number, and I will get in touch.

hang in there--

I am shocked to hear this too. You are so young for this sort of thing. :(

Anyhow, my grandfather had his first heart attack in his mid-forties. Sure it's not a stroke, but it's pretty significant nonetheless. While he did have other heart attacks during his lifetime, he still managed to live a full and a very long life. There's no reason that you won't too. I'll keep you in my prayers.

I'm sure that you are loved by many, try to let them do the worrying for you. ;) What you need to do is count your blessings, cherish the important people in your life, and take some time for yourself to get some rest. :)

I'll be thinking about you and sending some of those thoughts skyward. Take care of yourself.

Mike

I don't know where the stroke is. My doc IS sending me to a Neurologist!!(at least that was the paln when I left the office.) I know a Neurologist and a Neuro Surgeon ARE different.(I dunno why she wanted to send me to a Neuro Surgeon.)I I work at NEBH, by the way. When I left my doctors office, the plan was to send me to a Neurologist that is local to me. I went for blood work. I go back and see my doc on Mon. I will hopefully know more. I am going to get a copy of my MRI report, and take it to one of the docs at my hospital. ( my spouse works there too. And is going to take my report to this doc.) I have no idea where the stroke is. Thank you for your interest and all of your concern, prayers and kindness!!

Prayers sent from the desert!!

Inobivious stroke is often hard to ascertain as it usually does not display the usual motor pathway symptoms like hemipelegia. Glad you got the MRI and follow-up is being done quickly. Fiorinal is some heavy-weight headache medicine and nausea and vomiting are not uncommon when taking it. Compazine is good. (At least you didn't have vistaril IM with a demerol chaser.) Hope the headaches subside and give you some peace. Hang in there and remember you have a lot of folks praying for you - both here and on the Spydie Forum.

TKC,

I had my first stroke when I was 29. I had another this past fall (I'm 41 now). I got past the effects of the first one about a year later. This recent one wasn't as terrible - overnight in the hospital, about a month of real problems and now I feel okay.

Compazine is the BOMB when it comes to the nausea. Be thankful it's not the IV form - that stuff's like Drano in the veins.

Rest and take it easy. One day at a time, some are worse than others but these things too shall pass. Call me if you need to talk - I've been there, done that. Still waiting for the t-shirt ;)

Learn as much as you can about it and make sure your hubby knows it too. Don't keep him in the dark. Give him love & understanding since this will be confusing for him too!

Lots of hugs & prayers heading your way!

Thank you all!! And thank you Suzanne!! You know, my first name is also Suzanne!! Weird, huh!! I do appreciate each and every one of you. THANK YOU so much for the prayers and support. The Fiorinal hasn't helped one iota either!! The headaches are have been makin me puke. I am so grateful for the Compazine!! It IS the BOMB for an antiemetic!
