So she bought herself a Kelty pack yesterday and a new custom Damascus blade today. She is seriously cutting into my knife budget. Pun intended. Now she is thinking about joining the forum. Next thing I know is she will be jamming fire wood into her knuckle then trying to cut a finger off.

I love corrupting her. :)

You gonna show her the proper way to test the sharpness of that knife?

Thanks,

Welcome to the club brother!
my wife went to one of the ESEE campouts with me and won an Izula.
Occasionally she picks up one of my knives and comments "this isn't bad - i could use this camping".
get her logged on, let her start her own collection and pretty soon you won't believe the anniversary & b-day gifts!
(puncture resistant gloves come to mind...)

pictures :)

also, tell her to get her OWN knife budget :)

i recommend, taking money from any children, as well as other funds she might have access to that are not YOURS :)

I will get some close ups later. It has some nice jimping and it also has some tiny jimping on the swedge for skinning.

My little man also got a cheap little folder today.
So I ordered a SAK when we got home. I couldn't allow everyone to get something and me come away empty handed.

Mrs Ogre needs to sign up and join in the forum...yeah another Beckerhead will be cool. The Damascus just looks too beautiful to work on. :)

She already logged more than an hour tonight carving on some sticks. Knives are not safe queens around here. If its too pretty to use, I just don't buy it. But thats me. :)

Thats cool when a women is into the samething, my wife packs a BK14 with here everywere.....

You should consider yourself lucky to have found someone like that.

Thanks. She is pretty handy at times. I love watching her nurture a tiny ember and turning it into a raging burner. She is an awesome girl to spend time with in the outdoors. Chicks that grow up in hunting families tend to be less "eeeww I'm sweaty and the bugs keep buzzing me.....".

Now that she has a few knives of her own, I asked if I could have my Kukri back, she just smiled like I was a 'tard. Guess its a good excuse to go buy a golok.

Marbles is just a coat of orange paint on someone else's machete.
Tram's are great 'chete's, but I've never seen one of their golok patterns - could be fun.
martindales use good materials, but you get it in 80% finished condition -- needs handles contoured & edge ground before it can be used.
I've used the condor first gen Golok -- this year they made it a full tang so it should be a little more alive in hand. great chopper and fast enough in hand you can use it to cut grass or harvest cattail. (and that ball grip on the end is magic for chopping)

Tramontina's are just great for bush clearing. Other then having to DIY a sheath, they are too good to pass. :)

My girlfriend is a chef by trade, so knives are nothing new to her, and she can totally understand why some knives are $300-$400. This really helps me justify buying a $70 becker, when it's sitting next to her $200 chefs knife. When it's time to go play in the woods though, she loves taking my CS Kukri to everything that looks choppable. She's also a fan of the BK14, and thinks that a small, tough blade like that really has its place in the kitchen as well... quite a bit of food prep has been done with the Eskabar. Still need to get her a proper belt knife, so I can have my stuff back when we go hiking.
