MS Office 2010

I've been in IT for a while now, and worked for several large companies. We (IT) hear this alot. The new versions are not going to go away and you are going to have to upgrade eventually. Having everyone running a standard suite of software makes it easier to ensure compatibility, easier to support, easier to restore machines and easier to keep secure. You may as well suck it up and learn the new interface. If for no other reason than to not look like a knucklehead if you have to use someone else's / conference room PC.

I use open office on my home PC.

If it worked this way in the company I work for, I wouldn't rant so much :D There's not much compatibility now and won't be with the Office 2010 either. The upgrade is not for everyone, so the statement you are going to have to upgrade eventually doesn't quite work for me. To be clear, I can work in 2007, I just don't like it. I will definitely give the 2010 version a try on some other computer, then I'll see...

THe layout of Powerpoint and Excel is not so bad once you get used to it. Word however, makes me so angry that I just about broke my laptop just trying to figure out how to vertically align a text. I'm actually taking a class to learn how to use Office 2007. I thought it'd be an easy A but Word was more frustrating than upside down calculus. :p
