MSN & Best Buy class action suit

What: MSN charged you for MSN account that you never wanted nor activated, or possibly never even knew about after you bought something from best buy.

When: 2000 - 2004

This happened to me a couple of years ago. I bought some computer stuff from Best Buy, they threw in an MSN packet, even though I objected. The price of the packet was .01, which the saleman payed. They said I could throw it away, but they need to include it for "inventory purposes". Fast forward about 9 months later and I suddenly got a bill for several months of MSN access. MSN had started the account and billing to the card I purchased stuff on. I called Best buy, "it was a mistake" later I found out that it was intentional AND employees where told to lie to the customers using the inventory excuse. I called MSN and they said I purchased the packet so I accepted their terms. I called my credit card company and got the charges taken off.

So if you got stuck with charges the CC didn't remove contact above, yor probably won't get all your moeny back, but at least something

Dave, you have to watch those sales snakes at Best Buy. We bought a computer there a couple of months ago. The sales guy said that it was all set up just plug in and go to work. I asked about Microsoft Office and the other software and he replied that it was in there and ready to go. When I go to use it a couple of weeks ago I find that what was set up were "promotional" programs which expire 14 days after activation, and that you must purchase the "full pack" from Microsoft (another couple hundred bucks). I called Best Lie to complain and they were not in the least apologetic nor were they interested in rectifying the situation. Don't get me started on their nonexistant rebate programs.:barf:

I will no longer darken their doorway, and urge all my friends to abandon them as well.
