Looking at the Browning "Crowell and Barker Competition Knife" produced some interesting results. In the order in which they turned up on Google:

Browning.com $149.99 MSRP for Mod. 508
(Suppose they might just know the MSRP on their own product? :D )

Sportman's Guide
Price: $149.97 "Compare at $200.00"

Monstronix.com
Price $291.84 "Retail price $422.95" :barf:

A.G. Russell
Price $139.95 "MSRP $149.99"

Shop4lessUK
Price 254 GBP [$500 or so  ]

Ableammo
Price $110.00 [but they don't have any]

EmergencyOptions.com

Moteng.com
Price not listed "MSRP $422.95" :barf:

Interesting data for your "Where to Buy/Where to Avoid" list.

You know that for some of the higher prices on that list, you can probably get a number of very talented ABS smiths who actually participate in cutting comps to make you a knife as long as you don't absolutely need an MS stamp on the blade.

The Browning site doesn't list 580 knife yet so the official MSRP isn't really available. If it helps, I would estimate MSRP will be around $165. The street price should be in the area of $110 to $120 once the mainstream knife sites begin listing it. The knife is readily available and your favorite dealer should be able to get you one in the next week for something in that $110 to $120 price range which, by the way, is not a particularly low price for a Taiwanese made fixed blade.

The incongruities you see from some of these sites may simply be a lack of information and a burning desire to be the first site on the net to list it. The product is just very recently released. It may also be due to different sites listing different knives. The Model 57 Crowell fixed blade from Browning, as an example, has a list price of $317. It is U.S. made.

I think Moteng is a distributor, not a vendor. But since they have the $422 price there, that may be where some of the others got it. I'm sure they just pulled that figure out of their *** though.

We had these in stock last night. In about an hour I will be able to see if they are still in stock or you can call 800-255-9034 and someone will tell you.
