Had a BLAST!!!!!!! Nothing like a day in the woods with friends, fire, and sharp sh*t!!!!!! :D Flying steel everywhere with plenty of targets available. River8's GB throwing axe was fun as always. Got to beat on a buncha blades. My ode to River8's Busse SH was a real winner :) Cut through way too much stuff to still shave arm hair but it did! The primitive style blade worked awesome and the leather wrap held up fine. It throws great too. Here's a few pics :)

I had a great time today, guys. Bill, those are some SWEET blades. The pictures definitely don't do them justice. Thanks for bringing them for us to drool over.

I'm already looking forward to next time fellas. :D

She's ugly but she has a nice personality :) Guess it is just a fantasy type thing but I have always admired the rough primitive knives I see in use all around the world. Nothing against fancy art knives or even users taken to the pinicale of perfection. I just find myself seeing the beauty in a broken machete tip with a melted plastic bottle handle or the rough forged borongs with rough rasp marks still visible in the handle. These are the blades that have been getting the job done day in day out all over the world by folks who depend on their cutlery.

Form follows function in my book. If it does what it's designed to do, and does it well, then it's beautiful to me.

Give me a knife that my life can depend on and I'm in love.

Let me put it another way. Here's a line from the movie Conan, the Barbarian.

Conan's father told him, "The secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery. You must learn its riddle, Conan. You must learn its discipline. For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men, not women, not beasts.

[Points to sword]

"This you can trust."

This beast is truly ugly in its natural setting...!!

Yesterday was a blast! Bill, that leather wrap was amazing! Very comfortable with or with out gloves, and no slippage at all when chopping. Of course that mean machine chopper was a real treat to use, amazing to see you chop that yew and still shave your arm. :D

Thanks to everyone for a great time, and good to meet you Dunner!
