Just wondering what people here think about Muela knives. I own one, and like it, have a chance to buy another. Knives here in Oz are frightfully expensive, and the Muela is quite affordable. But how do they compare to other brands, and would you recommend something else for a similar price?

Mate I brought a Muela in Perth maybe 6or7 years ago for a 100 bucks aussie, nice knife, got it real sharp, but have never really used it, seen some bad things on Youtube about them, in regards to the short tang snapping on them after not so hard use, I personally wouldn't buy another, I recently brought a 8inch black Ka-Bar fighting knife, Awesome knife!! for 120 kiwi bucks. Highly recommend it. got it off our online auction site trademe.co.nz. Have a look on youtube also at the reviews. Hope this helps, Kris

Muela Knives kick but. when I sold at Daytona flemarket in Florida they went like hot cakes. I had one person tried to get me to warranty the knife he bought from me and I told him to get real. he used it as a pry bar and snapped the tip right off the knife. I use to have 3 glass cases of them on display all of the time. I cant count how many people just came by to check them out. I still have some today. most of my daggers are stag handle. they where the best sellers in the daggers. Do to me not being able to walk right I had to pull out of the flemarket. I don’t know what I am going to do with the ones that I got left.

So are you saying they rocked because you actually used them, or are you saying they rocked because you liked how they sold? :o

At least look at it this way--a Muela purchase helps support Spain's tanked economy.

I am saying they rock because the customers braged on how they used them and kept comeing back for more of them. I had a lot of people that came down to me just to see what muela I had in stock and would I order them for them.

I've never owned them, but they certainly look nice. Really friggin' nice.

The fixed blades look nice, but about the folders I don't know what to say...couple of days ago I saw a Muela Panzer, it's a Boker Turbine copy, but a bad one.

Gotcha'. Thanks for the clarification. :)

I hate to say this but I bought one of there folders and it was very nice looking but I would never buy another one again.

The one I have is the Military, can anyone tell me about the tang? I would like to know if it is full tang, and the website doesn't seem to be terribly informative in that direction.

in another post a person was asking the same thing and they said they got hold of there phone number and told them all about the knife. try there web site and see if that will help you out.

I have to tell you this but it is the other way around. fury owns mulea. when buying a fury knife you need to take a close look at it to see where it was made at.

Where have you read/noticed/been told that Fury owns Muela?
As far as I know, it´s a family company, ruled now by the 2nd generation. In fact Eladio Muela Jr is the actual CEO, and even in a 'tanked' economy as the Spanish one, Muela is keeping its market share (national and abroad) rather well, and making their whole catalog in their Spanish factory.
Regards.

I have one and it is OK but puts me in mind of a 7/8 scale Bowie XXL from England I just had to have- OK but not much heft.

I guess ironmongery or substance whatever that is was kind of lacking in both.

I've had a few that always performed great.

I have also seen some Muela knife blades stamped with the Fury Trademark right next to the Muela Trademark

yep. The local Mom and Pop sporting goods store was a Muella dealer and he dropped them because of Fury. (or so he said)
