Muela Knives: How do You Feel?

yep. The local Mom and Pop sporting goods store was a Muella dealer and he dropped them because of Fury. (or so he said)

I always associate Fury with our local flea markets. I'll be honest with you. I do still use some of the better Gerber Knives for general work. I'd rather have those over Muela/Fury. But, give me pure bred Muela born in Espania any day and I'd be happy. The last real Muela I had was a great, never should have traded it. If you like Muela, the old Aitors are great too.

I have that big honker in the middle. Quite impressive. Im all in for their fixed blades, but stay away from rubber handles. Also, on some of the older models you can see the screw end of the rat tail tang and they are better quality than the newer versions, like for example the Commando. The new ones have a weird extension coming from the pommel that rivets the end of a half tang, thumbs down in my book. But their full tangs really rock! Some Muelas have the Fury stamp, others have a Ruko stamp, but as long as they are made in spain they are good ( Not all fury's are Muelas)

Just noticed on a website that their knives have a one year (full replacement) warranty! I think their are companies that have a bit more confidence in their own product.

I owned a Muela and it was a great little knife. Beautiful, sharp, a nice sheath, overall amazing quality.
Like said above, stick with the ones in wood, bone, stag, etc, and made in Spain and I think you should be good to go. =]

I own 2 Muelas - a Bowie and a Navaja folder. I really like both. IMHO, I got a lot of knife for the money in both cases. F&F is nice, good looks, nice handles on both. The leather sheath that came with the Bowie is nicer than most leather sheaths in that price range. The lock-back folder had no sheath, yet is a fairly large knife so I usually carry it in a Buck nylon sheath designed for a 110.

I'm impressed with the two models that I have.
