I am considering the purchase of a Muela Jabali with 8 3/8 inch blade and olive handles. Anyone have experience with this knife, or other Muela knives?

Is the steel any good?

Sheath quality?

The knife is big and under 60 bucks, so it will definitely be a user.

Any help is appreciated.

I have a few, and I've rehandled they're cheap knives often, as I found they are a good source for cheap stainless blades. For rehandleing, I only use an old type with a cheap plastic handle. And I don't buy the sheath with it. But the better muela knives have really good sheaths. I only buy the cheap ones since I only need the blade.
Muela knives are generally good quality knives, but since this is a big knife-company, they also produce less good knives.
I suspect you are looking at a better one.
If it says inox, and mo(lybdenum) and va(nadium) you have a stainless blade, an upgrade from 420 steel, defenitly tougher and a better edgeholder, but most of all, easier to sharpen. And you will resharpen it often, as it is a bad edgeholder compared to 52100 or CPM 440 V. But for the money....it is a good deal. But a sharpening steel with it and keep that with it, and you'll be O.K.

personally, I would but the sharpening steel too, but for a user I would get myself a coldsteel bushman.
