There is a good, independent outdoor outfitter store near me that I like with a half-decent selection of knives. One brand that the carry is Muela - these are mainly traditional, small fixed blades with bone or antler handles.

I know nothing about this brand - are they anything decent?

I have a few Muela knives that I picked up on a trip to Spain back in '99. As mentioned before, they are very decent quality at an inexpensive price. My Dad has one of their older bowies made from some sort of carbon steel. Not sure if they still make 'em in carbon steel, but I sure would like to get a hold of one. Especially my Dad's, lol. That thing has developed a nice patina and holds a pretty good edge.

they make some nice knives, pretty cheap too.

I got raped by the local store buying a skinner and it was a beaut and worth the extra money.
