best guess, if they are going to go with the steels chosen in the voting done here and at the regular Spyderco forum, is that 3V is next, followed by Hitachi Super Blue.
The next steels are ZDP-189 and one similar to the Byrd steel from China.
I have a ZDP/420hc laminate caly3 so I am not as excited about the ZDP Mule as I was the M4 but I am really looking forward to the chinese steel. It will be great to see how it stacks up against the finest carbon(52100), tool(M4) and stainless(ZDP) steels we have. It should also be quite inexpensive.
If I could choose any steel it would probably be Hitachi Blue as well.
sorry to bring the confirmation, but I remember Sal's post too, the three steels that were in production for #2 were CPM-M4, ZDP-189, and a different Chinese steel (I don't remember which numbers were different than the current Byrd steel, but that was clearly looking like (x)Cr(y)MoV). CPM-M4 was for the #2, I don't think they will issue #3 and #4 as other than the ZDP and Byrd steels. however, like there's several months between mules, that could change.I thought it was 3V thats what the rumors have been for ages.
I hope it is as there are plenty of ZDP blades out there.

I was thinking of getting a S90V Millie. Is it worth extra? (Note: I do not own any S30V knives, so I really was keen on getting one sometime.)
