Thanks Sal for letting us try some different steels with the same blade edge and design so we can really get to see how these high grade steels perform regardless of the design of the overall knife. I plan on giving these a good work out this summer and fall and will make sure to throw my 2 sense in on how I see the differant steels performing!!!!!

Spyderco CPM M4 blade, Raleigh Tabor did a great job on the slabs Black Linen Micarta, red spacer, mosaic pins.

Yeah, that's right. Thanks Sal and Co for putting out such great knives.
Those handles look great BTW. If only I could figure out where to get my 52100 done.

Why not have a go yourself??
There is a really great tutorial floating round that shows you how to do a pretty good job and you don't require a factory full of tools.

ARMYOf1 - Great mules you have, really like the TK's - he sure is a master of his craft.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Glesser, and his employees at Spyderco for taking this knife to the limits.

Nice pieces Armyof1, give 'em hell. Let us know what you learn.

Thanx for the kind words, It's been an interesting project on our end as well. We're glad to be able to do it.

We'e got the next two in house. Working on several after that.

I just stroped my 52100 for the first time dont know why i never done it before i usually only do it on convex knives i guess.
The thing goes from sharp to scarry sharp in no time faster than any steel ive used before like 12c27 and A2 by BRKT ive never tried there 52100.I was going to convex the edge but seen as i can get it that sharp i dont think i will bother for now.
How does the M4 and S90V compare when sharpening?.
Im guessing they will be harder but do they respond to a strop well?.
Ive heard 52100 is tough steel although at the hardness i dont know how tough these Mules are.
Ive just finished the handle so i can bash it now and find out how it holds up.

Here's my first try at making knife scales, on my CPM S90V Mule. The $16.95, generic sheath from KnivesShip4Free work just great.

I've still got some finish work to do on the handles, but I learned a TON to make the next pair better :D

Thanks again Sal and gang

Here are my mules, top to bottom
ironwood M2,teflonM1,carbon fiber M3

Nice ones! I like those Iron wood handles, I think I am going to try and make some wood handles on my next Mule knife......
I think I will get three ZDP mules have one handle by Tom Krein to match my others, one with Wood handles and one with clay femo handles that I will do. That femo clay I have used in Beaded jewlery and want to see how it will hold up on knife handles. It is super cheap and easy to mold and you can do some cool stuff with it.. If I find that it is too weak for duty use I will chip em off and try some thing differant. I think I am going to pick up one of those black with red thread sheaths, those look pretty nice for the price.

Thanks
The ironwood is nice I will probably repeat that in future. The teflon has a nice feel to it and it cleans up very well, that one is slated for kitchen duty, the carbon fiber is EDC and iron wood is still being babied.Just for the record the ironwood slab was 1.5"w X"5 and I would have to say it wasn`t wide enough,I just got lucky.1.75" x 5" should work.
