Multi-Tool Attachment for Bench Ginder

So, I'm a Novist knife maker, and like some I don't have a lot of money. I would love a $500 to $1000 grinder, but I just don't have it to throw down, and I'm a strong believer that I can get by with anything. So when I came across at grinder, called the Multi-Tool Attachment for about $200, I decided to try it out and I can't believe how well it works... It works very well and at the same time, because it's hooked to the side of the bench grinder, I can do my rough cutting with the stone and move right into the fine grinding..

Has anyone else had any experience with this thing... Good Bad or Indifferent...

They are used a lot in Australia, a good starting point.
The biggest drawbacks are 1. a lack of space, 2. no speed control.
But they do the job.

I solved the speed control by using a porter cable variable speed control bench grinder. the biggest draw back that I have with it is that it doesn't have a work plate and have to make my own. Also some times I would like the contact wheel to be a little bit larger.

So I decided that one of the biggest things missing from my Multi-tool attachment to work at it's best was a plate rest... I built one using some 3/16' steel and 1/8" angle iron from Lowes. I attached it to the same bolt that is used to hold the contact wheel.. It works well and is easy to remove for full use of the grinder.

Been using one of those as my only grinder for years. I put it on the other side of the grinder, upright and built a better platen for it. Can't get all the cool belts for it, but it works fine, and has been very durable. I am upgrading soon to a 2x72, but that little beast owes me nothing. I should mention, I forge pretty close most of the time, so I don't have a ton of stock removal to do as a rule.

Thanks Dellis, I thought about flipping it over and using it like that too. If you have any pics of your set up could you post them. I don't use it for much stock removal either. I recently found out that my wife's uncle had a horizontal/vertical metal bandsaw that he wasn't using and so he gave it to me for a knife, Score for me:thumbup: It makes it a lot easier to get close in on my pattern. I want get into forging my own steel, but I have to move every three years so not very easy for me to always have the space...

I'll try and take a pic to post tomorrow night.
