600?!?!?!? Wow, and I thought *I* was bad!!
I doubt there have been more than 200-300 models and variations made so far. You must have a few dupes!
I have about 50 plier- and scissor-based tools, and a couple dozen SAKs. My all-time fave is still the original LM Wave, although lately I've been packing the Charge Ti more. When I get my grubbies on a Surge, I have a feeling that it'll become my EDC of choice, though!!
My favorite under-appreciated multi is the Schrade ToughTool, specifically the version with slip-joint pliers and 1/4" bit drive. Big, but flat, so it carries comfy close to the belt, and built like a tank. Tool lock was screwy, though. Woulda liked to have seen where Schrade woulda come up with for the next model.
The Schrade combination pliers was/is unique . The Schrade ST-5 I believe it was beat the Spyderco Spyderench in that the Schrade did build a wire cutter into thiers that the spyderench did not . But the spyderench does enjoy other advantages . It is a shame that Schrade is no longer in buisness . Have you also collected the Schrade Apex multitool line , tough grip series done with the vice grip people , Scrade I - Quip and Navitool ?
I have categories of what I regard as multis that I have not seen discussed here . I have "survival knives " that I feel are certainly multi functional . Office type multis such as the tool logic office companion . The one common denominator in my collection is that every tool has to have something for a cutting type edge . In the case of the tool logic office companion , tool logic calls it a carton opener .
A break down of my collection would be ( an outdated list ) ;
61 - fishing related multi tools
19 survival knives
7 - shovel/spade multis
73 - plier based multi tools ( non name brand )
76 - credit card type tools , bicycle related multitools
91 - office multi tools , rigging knives , hobos , antique multis
50 hammer and hatchet multitools
60 - wrench and shear multi tools
62 of Kutmaster , S&W , Schrade , Crescent , Craftsman , Kershaw , Buck , Meyerco , Al Mar , Spyderco , Bearjaws , Aitor .
58 - SAKs AND Gerbers
57 - Leatherman and Sogs
I have a few gaps in some of the name brands but I am still infilling
