Multi-tool for Bug Out Bag

wave or charge, that's what I use. Prefer them over my swisstool and juice
 
I would probably go with the Swisstool for these reasons.

1: It is extremely corrosive resistant. I would say much more than other multitools such as Leatherman etc (and I do use a Leatherman for my EDC).

2: All the tools are on it, easily accessible, so there no chance of loosing screw bits etc.

3: The blades are fairly easy to maintain.

4: It has an excellent tool selection choice and multiple models so you can pick which tools you really want.
 
My vote went to the Leatherman Wave.
This multi tool has a functional set of tools, and I like the way it feels. And all the blades/tools lock open eliminating accidents when least needed.
PS, I used it two days ago to cut metal banding on a couple pallets of material with the wire cutter part of the pliers, and it worked like a champ. (Who said they're not strong?)
Also went to lunch with a friend the other day, and we noticed the screws on his front license plate had backed almost all the way out. Once again, Wave to the rescue with its large philips head screwdriver. :)
So, emphasis on "functional" here. ;)

I EDC a Leatherman Charge with bit kits and bit extension.

I assume that in an emergency I may not be in the best of shape. All those exchangeable bits are fiddly and easily lost. Fiddly is not what I want when poop meets propeller. So each of my larger emergency kits include a Supertool.
 
Get the Leatherman Surge...It has exactly the same tools as the Wave, but is larger.
 
I always wondered why they don't do a "Life Time" warranty if they really believe in their products like; Victorinox/SAK, Gerber, Sog? :confused:

I have a hunch Leatherman would continue providing warranty service even after the expiration date, much as they presently do with returned products that had obviously been abused and without flaw in manufacture. They did that for me once, and I had fully expected to have been charged for the service. It would, however, let them off the hook for "retired" models for which parts would no longer be in stock.

To Leathermans credit they are fixing/replacing even after the 25 years are up, I do salute them for that, but why not make it official and in print! lol

word is they are not repairing but replacing tools in some countries now. that is good and not so good news, no word if it will be with all their tools/countries yet.
