Hey Everyone,

I have a number of multi-tools, Victorinox Spirit, Leatherman PST, PST II, SOG Powerlock, Gerber Suspension, and a ton of SAKs. But I am curious as to which one you all favor when it comes to survival tools. So far I haven't found a "favorite", thou I would have to say that The Spirit is at the top of my list, but that just might be because I am a Victorinox addict... :) Lots of people love the Wave..... we always ask "which knife if you could only have one?" I am asking "Which multi-tool, if you couldn't have a knife?"

One other thing I have noticed, is that no one seems to use the SwissCard (or the like) as part of thier "tin kits" and I was wondering why? While it isn't exactly a RC-3, it is a very very thin tool kit with a number of useful items.

Anyways, thoughts? Comments?

Gerbers got a new inexpensive one I'm looking at using for kits. Seems to have a nice size blade in it. Right now I have a multiper, and an 800 I'm using.

Old Leatherman Wave. I've had it for 10 years now. I use all the tools on it and it has never failed me, although a few of my friends have broken their Leathermans while abusing them.

Anything will break with enough abuse

One thing I don't like about the Kick, Fuse, PST, PST II, and a few other models (Buck X-Tract, CRKT ZillaTool) have no wood saw. I pretty much discard any multi-tool without a saw. The ones I do have with no saw blade gets paired up with a SAK that has a saw. Might seem funny to some, but I find the saw blade so useful, I hate to be without it.

Jeff, I love the SOG tool too, but it is one heavy, robust beast! EDC carry on your belt is find, but at work I can't have a sheath, so my MT has to ride in either my back pocket, or in my cargo pocket, so I swapped to a Gerber Suspension for EDC for the weight. I wish the Victorinox Spirit had a spear point blade as well as the sheepsfoot, then it would be prefect.

Im a huge fan of the Vic swisstool spirit. Ive owned one for a few years now, and have another on order.... Nice saw, good F&F, Stainless, and the curve to the handles make it very comfy...

My family always used gerbers. I just snagged a SOG powerlock off of steapandcheap for like $50 (i guess thats a decent deal). Ither way if it's a decent tool i'm going to pick up a few for the family later on.

A couple years ago I bought 4 SOG multitools at walmart for 14 dollars a piece on red tag closeout. Gave them all as Christmas gifts... Kept one but lost it under the hood of my truck..I think...

Great tools!!

If I could only have one tool I would pick the Wave but if I wanted a tool in conjunction with other cutting implements, the SAK Farmer. Although right now I'm playing around with not carrying a multitool at all.

uhm ... P-38?
though I mainly use that as a screwdriver.

I have a Crunch, and I would gladly exchange the blade on that for a saw, cause I usually have a blade anyway.

Im with Mr Coffee on the saw bit, so I carry a Vic "Mauser" SAK that has two blades and a saw. Since I have two blades there I dont see a need for blades in my MT, so I took a couple of Gerber MTs and cannabilized them to make my custom MT. No blades, but it has a metal saw, scissors, spike, file, plus the smaller tools.

The cool thing about the gerber is the jigsaw replacable blade. Not very sturdy, but good enough to get er done in a pinch

HA! I never thought of the P-38 as a MT! But they are handy lil devils... unless of course you have to open a can :D :D :D

I can do that on my LM Surge as well. Very handy, what with having a file blade & saw blade available.
