14 years ago my 1 year old son got a hold of my SOG and used his only front teeth to mark up the leather sheath it came in. I was mad at the time but now it is my favorite multi-tool that I could never part with.....:D

I've been carrying one of the older style Waves for the past 6 or 7 years, and its served me well. I really like what Victorinox has been doing with multitools though, the Swisstool Spirit feels really nice in the hand. Though with all the recommendations here, I think I'm going to have to find a SOG to get my hands on before updating the multitool

Swiss Tool is my Favourite.
I agree 100% with STR. The ST just seems of a higher quality. Plus I'm a sucker for their polished steel. :p

Swiss tool is sexy:p I'm not to certain as to say it's my favorite as I go back and forth between the swiss tool and the leatherman wave (I like the TI charge and may get that one later). I don't think I will take either one with me into the woods again as I feel SAK's are lighter and more useful. Also now that many SAK models have one hand opening locking blades, their even better. But if I had to choose over the swisstool and wave for wilderness I would take the wave. The one hand opening of the two different locking blades is a great feature and they have better ergonomics as pocket knives. Of course the ergonomics is still piss poor compared to any descent pocket knife but then that's why I carry an SAK:D

I like the Swiss tool and the old SOG tool clip. I carry a Leatherman Surge. At $40 I think I got a good deal and it has a screwdriver small enough for eyeglasses.

I am a big fan of the SOG myself. It will hold up to more abuse than the Leathermans that I have owned, and I do not like the Gerbers at all. It is hefty though.

I own an older Leatherman Supertool, and I must say that I once wrecked the wire-cutter on a piece of steel-wire. OK, perhaps it's officially only for copper-wire, but I was a bit disappointed - this was pre-eBay and all, and prices in Dutch B&M-stores were (and still are!) shocking on USA-originating cutlery. On all other counts, it's still a very nice piece of kit. If I'd buy something new however, I'd pay more attention to the pliers and cutter, and the hand-ergos - on the old Supertool, you're gripping on the "painful" side when using the pliers. I also think it'd be possible to get something a bit lighter.

Leatherman Wave always in my pack!

Mine lives in a holster on my left hip - for about 9 years now. Still in perfect condition and I keep the plain blade 'shaving sharp'. I also have a Victorinox Cybertool on my right hip - also for about 9 years and also still in perfect condition and also 'shaving sharp' on both blades. I don't abuse my tools, but I do use them and the 2 I EDC are so useful to have available all the time.
