How do you guys feel about a thread on multitools which are featured in the movies and tv .One that sticks out in my mind is in the X Files ' The goldberg variation ' when a guy had a LM Wave in his top pocket and stopped a bullet . A new one i found but havnt seen the movie yet can be found here http://www.leatherman.com/dealer-extranet/default.asp click on the pdf link for the dealer newsletter . In 'The day after tomorrow ' someone had a LM Mini tool on a table while he was trying to repair a radio . So if you think its a good idea shout out what films and tv programs you've seen multitools in .

thanks

dunc

i've seen the LM micra on a tv show a few years ago and the Gerber multiplier either in a movie or on tv.

Silent Bob whips out a Gerber in "Mallrats".

The big guy cop in "Big Trouble" pulls a bullet out of a TV with a Leatherman.

Terrence Stamp's character in "The Limey" cuts through a chain link fence with what looks like a Gerber multitool that he snaps open.

I think we're still trying to forget T3...

lol it's like a train wreck... don't want to stare but you can't look away, don't want to remember but you can't forget.

I'm glad I didn't pay to see that movie!

I'm sure you guys all know this, but McGaver (sp), the 80s show, used a SAK, but I don't which model he used.

If I remember correctly, it was a Tinker. One of his enemies in the series used an original Leatherman PST.

I'm a fan of 'MythBusters' on The Discovery Channel. Adam can be seen in a few episodes deploying what looks like a Leatherman Wave to make adjustments.

I remember the knife fairly well. It was actually a Wegner that was very close to the Victorinox Hunstman I believe. I remember it had a large and small blade, a saw, a bottle opener, can opener, a screwdriver or three and I think it had tools in the handle. Of course I think only 3-4 of the implements were ever shown doing something.

lol I remember how the happy heroic music used to come on whenever the SAK came out.

On the first seasons of MacGyver, he used mostly tinker models and executive models. He used, I guess anything up to 4 layers. He never used the grotesquely obese ones, like my Champ :D

How about 'Behind Enemy Lines'? Owen Wilson used what looked like a Vic Spartan to discombooberate what I think is a transmitter. Note that he did not use the bottle-popper screwdriver but the can-opener screwdriver!

If you look at a number of McGuyver episodes, he actually used a variety of different models.

That would explain why we remember different models. I didn't follow the show very faithfully at all so I would only remember the one knife and others who'd seen more episodes would probably remember another.

"Peacemaker" with George Clooney. At the end Nichole Kidman defused the nuke with an SAK of some sort.

I don't know if this counts but in the movie 'Armageddon', there was the Victorinox cross prominently displayed in one of the comet buggies. They (productions) even gave away soldier knives laser etched with logos from the movie.

bummer i wish they gave me one :)

I caught a movie on TV recently - I think the title was "Hard Rain" (I could be wrong), starring Christian Slater, Morgan Freeman and Minnie Driver. Minnie Driver used her SAK a lot - to unscrew a roof grille, and also to get herself free when she was chained to a staircase.

I remember seeing that. I figured it was for the multi-purpose drill bit. :p

Too bad the movie was crap though.
