Multitool type of guy.

I like to carry both a folder and a multi tool. My folder is either an assisted opener or a "flip" opening type of knife. If it isnt one hand open and close I don't edc it.
My multi tool is a gerber 400 Compact Sport, also a one hand opener. I mostly use the pliers, wire cutter, and screw drivers.
I like to be able to access a blade quickly without having to open up a multi tool and fold the blade out. Then unlock the blade fold it away and put the tool back in it's pouch. I can deploy a folder cut what I need to and have the knife put away again in a few seconds. You can't do that with a multi tool. That said I am looking to buy either a Skeletool or a SOG S62 (or both). Its got to be quick and easy, and functional.

So I guess I'm both a knife and a multi tool kind of guy.
I don't leave the house without both on my person.
Oh yeah I also carry one or two flashlights also. ;0

I guess I have sort of become a multi-tool guy myself. 6 or 8 years ago I picked up a second hand Leatherman pst at a garage sale. It was my first multi-tool and I carried it while fishing.
4 years ago I got a couple of saks at christmas time. They were my first and quickly became part of my every day carry. So until very recently I have carried everyday a sak and a traditional pocket knife of some sort.
Earlier this month I replaced my sak with a Swisstool. I still carry my pocket knife of the day and like them alot but if I could only have one I would go with the multi-tool.
I can justify both because typicially my pocket knives have smaller blades than the swiss-tool and are a little easier to get to for a quick cut or two. That really wasn't true when I was carrying the sak and pocket knife. I carried them both then because I liked them and for no other reason.

I have carried a Multi-Tool everywhere except for school since 1994. I had a leatherman that my dad got me and had it engraved. Now I carry a Gerber Diesel, a Spyderco Endura Clip-It, and my new Benchmade VEX. I'd rather be over prepared than under-prepared. I have had countless times that my multi-tool came in extremely handy and saved me wandering around looking for a screw driver or pair of pliers. If I can only carry one thing i carry my Multi-Tool though.

corey1981 how do you like your Gerber Diesel?

I have a Gerber 400 and am looking at purchasing either the Diesel or the SOG S62 multi.
