Went to school in the 50's and 60's so all this talk brings back many memories. I guess I am lucky as I have no scars on my feet.

That's when I went, too. But we played it with tricks, not throwing knives at each others' feet! :D

I got my first knife from my Mom when I was 5.I used it to make toys, sharpen pencils at school & learned to play all the knife games. We didn't have a lot of $$$ especially when there were 3 kids. I have had various knives my whole life....I have MORE than ever now.....but.....have a few that are favorites.

Having gone to school long after knives were banned, I never played it at school. I did however do plenty of "fun" things with knives in scouts. While many of the boys were not very experienced with knives and thus rarely used them, some of us were raised better. These games were one of the reasons I started carrying a "beater" folder, I was always afraid of snapping the tip of my 110, so a knife that was cheaper, with no sentimental value, was used.

I can't say I blame them for banning knives in schools, probably 75% of the people I went to school with couldn't be trusted with a plastic butter knife.. Times have changed, and I personally blame poor parenting. If they were raised better, they'd be safe with knives, and they'd know not to go flashing them around like drunken fools.

what ever happened to that kid who used his gran'dad's Ka-Bar to play ... you know who I mean, 'ol seven toes ...

Funnee. I only got five toes. But I still don't want a knife messing up my combat sneakers!

Too funny,

I haven't heard that word since the '60s. '64-'77
We played, but after school.

Some of us carried knives, but we didn't flaunt them at school.

We were probably the last group allowed to bring our hunting rifles on the bus to school. Funny, nobody even raised a brow about it back then.

I know what you mean. In the 2nd or 3rd grade, I took my Ithica Model 49 .22 single shot lever action rifle to school for Show and Tell. The school did not freak out, the teacher (and/or principle) did not even lock it up before or after show and tell, nor was I sent home early with it. Oh, and the cops, and my parents were not called.

How times have changed for the worse. In junior high most of the guys and probably 1/2 the girls had a slip joint in their pocket or in their purse, in high school if you were taking a shops class, it was assumed you had a knife. Cars in the school parking lot during hunting season had rifles and shotguns in the rear windows (remember those automotive gun racks?) no one thought anything of it.

We have probably taken this thread as far as it needs to go.
