Leatherbird--I no longer have the first knife I purchased. but the first knife I bought was on Aug. 14, 1980 when the Canadian Knife Collectors Club along with Canadian Custom Knives participated in the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto.
Bruce Edwards was co-owner of CCK and was the founding President of CKCC.
Phyllis and I always went to the Arts & Crafts building at the CNE and the door thru which we entered came upon this fine exhibit. At that time Harald Moeller-Knifemaker,
Roland Robidoux-engraver
along with Bruce and some other collectors were offering knives and the opportunity to join the club.
I purchased 2 knives that day. One was a nice D'Holder boot knife and the other was boot knife by Ted Bollenbach scrimmed by Charlie Hargraves.
Here are samples of Ted and Charlies work.

I had to come back to the CNE again because it was like a kid in a candy store at this knife exhibit. At that time Aug. 29, 1980 I purchased a Walt Stockdale boot knife and a William Rogers Sheffield Bowie.
My wife thought I was a bit nuts-- $490 on knives. In fact, I still remember when I first spent $200 on one knife.
Well, 2 months later, I was on the Board of Directors of CKCC and then 6 month later I was President.
None of the knives mentioned, do I continue to own, but I do have a Fred Carter Fighter April 5, 1981 which was my 30th knife and is one knife I won't sell. Have had a lot of knifemakers express first dibs on it however.
