Anybody carry a Murry Carter or a Arron one of his students. I carry a Free style Arron knife with White paper #1 blade core with a stainless outer skin. I’ve carried this for a few years and it’s the best blade I’ve ever used. I wore out the original neck sheath and since it came with a iwb sheath I just converted it to a neck sheath. I sharpen on Japanese water stones by hand and it will split a hair and hold an edge for a long time.

I was the one that talked Murray into making a neck knife. He didn't like the idea until he made one and fell in love with how practical it was for his own uses.

I got the second one after the one he made for himself. And this fancy one which I got from him at the Blade Show the weekend he got his Master Smith Stamp.

Sweet. I’ve got one by Arron I gave my Murry to a very close friend so my only knife is the Free style by Arron. I’ll post a pic once I figure out how to do it.

I do from time to time. My wife won't use them, so we generally use more pedestrian knives on a daily basis.

Just curious why won’t your wife use them nothing cuts better than his knives. I consider them to be the best knives made if you use them.

She likes knives she doesn't have to worry about taking care of...and that I can sharpen for her in a few seconds. Mostly it stems from years ago when I told her that she couldn't put them in the dishwasher. Now we rarely use the dishwasher, but the old habits die hard.

Anyway...she thinks of them as my knives. So...

Well I can understand that she’s just respectful of your knives and probably knows how much there worth. Sometimes it’s hard for people to spend $500 to ? for a knife then use it. I get it but once she starts using them if she does you might find she wants more of them lol.

I have a neck knife made by Mr Carter himself, got a deal on it and have always wanted one. It was used but still razor sharp. I have been really pleased with it and the fit and finish are impeccable.

I’ve wanted one or Murray Carter’s for a while or even one of his “muteki” models.
After seeing all these… i definitely want one

I've always admired Murray Carter knives and wondered- How are the handles, ergonomics, feel in hand of his neck knives?

They're different than any I've owned.

Thanks Mitch

To be honest, the ergonomics are not nearly as good as my best neck knives from other makers...but I admired Murray's work back then and was interested in having a blade of his that would be easy to EDC if desired. That he made a neck knife, after initially rejecting my proposal, was exciting stuff for me at the time.

I appreciate the honest response. I'll always admire his knives and the steel is phenomenal.

I was on the fence looking at a nice damascus one but at $1K I was only going to commit if I carried it and moved some others along.

This is the object of my desires:

I only own 1. It is a lock back folder and very sharp.
If I remember correctly I bought it in 2002.
Have never owned a Carter kitchen knife - Sabatier (France not the type I have seen in target) and a custom from a gent who has left the knife making game (Paretti from Pasco County in FL) are my sort of fancy using knives.
