Mushroom madness, fall is coming (pic heavy)

My fall mushroom hunting has yielded zero. I have seen a few dreid up oysters. No Hens or Chickens . I think its to late for oysters but a nice little rain might bring out some hens and chickens .

I sure hope they're edible, because I ate a lot them. I usually just sauté them in butter with garlic and serve them up as a side.

Went camping this weekend and shrooming yesterday for about 2 hours. Found a lion's mane, a couple stump puffers, a few shaggy ink caps, and a whole lot of Maitake.

I'm no mushroom expert, but at my campsite I had a smudge pot and was burning some fungus. When not in use I had it turned upside down. Yesterday I flipped it over and there was a puffball growing. Maybe just a coincidence but perhaps fire in the area, or smoke, helps them grow.

It's not Pine it's Oak. I picked it myself, and have for years at the same site; not to mention they don't stain. Trevitrace however posted the Black staining. See if you spot it.
No,it's not :D look at the pine bark as well. The rest in this thread are indeed Maitake.

Ive been in the woods doing a lot of metal detecting and have not found anyything edible . Its so dry , a little nice rain should bring some out . Sure would like to find a fresh hen of the woods .

I just can't get enough of 'm :)
