I used to be a big Iron Maiden fan...mostly during the 80s.

My favorite album would have to be Somewhere in Time. There are so many other great albums but I find myself listening to Somewhere in Time the most. Songs like Deja Vu...Wasted Years and Stranger in a Strange Land really stand out to me. The instrumental intro to The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner is fantastic.

If you are an Iron Maiden fan as well...what is your favorite album?

My favorite has always been No Prayer for the Dying. "Hooks in You" is probably my favorite track.

Hands down it would have to be "Powerslave". I have seen Maiden live no less than 25 times and every time they play something off that album it simply rocks.

25 times  what you a roady or what :p:D

they are one of only two concerts i seen years ago
yes they rocked pretty good but a few years later i seen the cult and metallica and they rocked
the cult was about on par with iron maiden but metallica really cranked it out

Flight of Icarus was the first Maiden song I heard and Live after Death is still my favorite album.

Killers. Has an energy to it the later albums lack.

That said Powerslave is a close #2 for me.

I'm a little more old schooll. My favorites are the original 'Iron Maiden' and the second one Killers. I like Piece of Mind too. After Number of the Beast, I started loosing interest in them and kind of lost touch with stuff after that.

I can't really pick a favorite... Piece of Mind, Number of the Beast, Powerslave are close to the top though. I like Dance of Death a lot too.

I have a hard time picking a regular release fav, so I am going with Ed Hunter. Great compliation with some live tracks, and the Ed Hunter game to boot.
They are awesome in concert

I like Brave New World
It's a really well produced CD and Bruce has some great vocals:thumbup:

I prefer the older stuff, the albums up to 1985, and the my favorite album (which no longer plays) is the tape version of Maiden Japan.

Somewhere In Time, one of my all-time favorite songs is by Iron Maiden, Stranger In A Strange Land.

Back in '93, I read a book called Frozen In Time, about the Franklin (Northwest Passage) expedition in 1846-47, and the expeditions that followed, to find out what happened to the first one. It's almost creepy how much the song resembles that event, and others like it. (I don't think the song & that specific event are related, but who knows?)

I got to go backstage to Maiden on the Powerslave tour and met them all, plus a bunch of other heavy hitters like Ronnie James Dio.. It was surreal, and the best show I ever saw.. I dig listening to Maiden on long road trips. Favorite songs are prolly The Trooper, Where Eagles Dare, Ancient Mariner, Flight of Icarus etc. Hell I cant name many of thier songs I dont like..;)

PLEASE, Morrowj...don't make me pick just ONE!! I'm a huge Maiden fan. Started listening to 'em in the very early 80's when number of the beast came out and I was about 12 yrs. old!!:D Been a fan ever since. Just saw them this past May with my brother who got us tickets to see them for my birthday. VIP section, third row seats, AWESOME!! They played ONLY music from the 80's which made for an incredible show that was over 3 hours long!! If I absolutely HAD to pick though, I'd say Somewhere in Time also, but Killers is some incredibly awesome raw British rock at it's finest, to be sure! Here's some evidence of my love affair with the Maiden, just a sample...

Is that enough proof? If not, don't worry, I've got more!!!

I've wondered for years - does anyone know how "Eddie" got his name? I loved him, at first only because he made the ladies in our church cringe when they saw him. :D
