I find myself using my douk-douk more around the house thanks to this thread. I'll probably stick to Opinels for whittling where there's more pressure on the handle, but the douk still fun to use, and it's got a neat 19th century look to it.
Myal, is the bottom knife with the white handle material also an Okapi?
I was under the impression the Okapi's only came with the ring and not a nail nick?
All of these are really interesting knives and I may just have to try an Okapi in spite of my understanding they were only about 52 Rc, which is a lot softer than what I prefer.
However a 52 Rc knife does have its place and is very conducive to sharpening with a found native rock.
And speaking of native rocks, well I'll post a new thread about that.
All Okapi folders have the nail nick , the 907e , 907es , 907ess , and 907esss ( the "s"s are for serrated , stainless steel and stainless steel serrated , the serrations are more like saw teeth tho ) have the ring , its the release for their lock on the blade .
