Musings on a humble knife

I thought I was a bit odd carrying simple knives like this ...

My usual knives are a couple Okapis , an Opinel , and a Mercator .

I find myself using my douk-douk more around the house thanks to this thread. I'll probably stick to Opinels for whittling where there's more pressure on the handle, but the douk still fun to use, and it's got a neat 19th century look to it.

I must be some kind of caveman.

Frank does your brow ridge protrude over 3/4 inch? If not then you may be just "borderline" caveman.:p ;) :D

Myal, is the bottom knife with the white handle material also an Okapi?
I was under the impression the Okapi's only came with the ring and not a nail nick?

All of these are really interesting knives and I may just have to try an Okapi in spite of my understanding they were only about 52 Rc, which is a lot softer than what I prefer.
However a 52 Rc knife does have its place and is very conducive to sharpening with a found native rock.;)

And speaking of native rocks, well I'll post a new thread about that.:p :D
