Does anyone here edc a muskrat? I kinda like the look of them and was thinking of picking one up.

Kinda funny having two of the same blades but looks like a solid work knife.

Sam

I used to edc a Old Timer 77OT Improved Muskrat when I was working cattle. I would keep one blade for anything that was rough work (cutting bales was mainly what it was used for) and the other kept sharp for cutting on critters.

I'm sure other styles (like...I don't know...maybe a stockman or cattle knife;) ) would have been more useful, but I really like the aesthetics and ergonomics of the muskrat.

I keep thinking of rotating a Moore Maker muskrat into my edc, but right now I'm a little too enamored of a Queen mini-trapper.

I have one and it is on my EDC rotation, usually for when I'm wearing jeans as it is a larger knife. Two of the same blade means when one is dull, go to the other and keep on going. I like the design, mine is a Camillus Moore Maker, but the knife will not sharpen. It will get ok sharp but what I expect. CSC's has some beauties.

I carry a Case-Bose Muskrat from time to time. Tough to beat the clip and wharncliffe combo.

I will echo what Blues said. I love to carry my Case-Bose muskrat. The blade configuration is great.

I have a Case Hawbaker/Improved(?) in green bone. It's a beauty... solid, good f&f, etc., but just a little too long to carry comfortably in the front pocket. Might consider selling...

I ordered my Moore Maker muskrat sight unseen. It is Camillus-made with delrin scales, the "working" series. Very nice knife. Well-fitted and finished, snaps open and shut with satisfying authority. Damn sharp too.

I can't speak to the bone-handled muskrats by Queen. Truth be told, if they are no better than the Queen muskrat I just obtained, I wouldn't pay that kind of money for one.

Just happen to have pictures of the Buck Muskrats right at hand. 1974 - 98 300$s

Interesting timing. My Eye brand muskrat arrived today, and with some of the nicest stag I've seen for a while (in this price range). I've been 'unhappy' (read as my latest excuse to buy another knife) with have to use two different length blades for two different uses - and decided to try out have the same length for all my jobs. Shield will guide me to the proper blade for the upcoming mission (this one is for apples and....) :p

How are the moore makers? Would you order one blind (not in person)? They have a nice one.

Sam

I don't have a MM muskrat, but I do have a jigged bone (Queen-made) 5301 stockman. It has excellent fit and finish, better than most of my Queen knives. And the blades are thin with thin edges, unlike many of my Queen D2 models.

Friends,

Like Blues, I too carry a Bose/Case Collaboration Muskrat (stag) in my rotation as my EDC. Pretty tough to beat! Fit/Finish are Top Notch! I really like the Wharncliff blade, which keeps a good edge.

Just my 2 Cents!

Thats a nice looking case/bose knife.

I'm still trying to decide between the buck or the Moore Maker muskrat. We'll just see here!

Here's my Mooremaker in horn. Beautiful, tight, and good fit and finish. The small stockman though, I just can't take it out of my pocket.I like these Mooremakers and plan on getting Moore.

I carry a muskrat like this:
I use oiled chap leather. The knife fits nice and snug.

I was mulling over buying a Schrade Old Timer Improved Muskrat that I found in a store near me. I've been slowly picking away at their Old Timer collection over the last few years. I don't know what they've got left, as I haven't been in there since march but I think i know what I'm doing tomorrow ;)
