must be vern's learning day

practice makes perfect :)

The first few grinds can be intimidating, it might seem that grinder has a mind of it's own and is tough to control. It helps if you rest your hands/blades against steady rest - at least when you first establish the "groove" . Some of us clamp the blades to a little gizmo that takes all the fun err.. challenge, out of grinding.

what gizmo ?????

your hands are the only "gizmo" you need. Learn to do it free hand now and you'll be glad you did later.

Vern, Just keep on persevering. I had big time problems with flat grinding, and the guys here jumped right in to help me as best as they could, short of reaching through the computer monitor and holding my hands in the proper position.
As soon as you get the hang of doing something right while learning to grind, don't lose what you've gotten hold of by getting frustrated and angry...you'll just "un-do" all the good that you've done for yourself.
I just want to take this opportunity to say "thank you" once again for all you guys' help.
