My favorites are the native 5, sage 3, manix 2 lightweight. Out of these 3 i think you should deffinately go with the sage 3 first. Very underrated knife. My personal favorite, bolt action lock is awsome so smooth. You wont be dissapointed.

MUST have Spydercos? IMHO, the only must have spydercos are the pm2 and/or the Military. Both are amazing but I personally prefer the military.

Also, from a more specific perspective, I find the salt knives to be must haves, but if I didnt spend so much time on the ocean those would probably be less special to me.

I've tried to get rid of my Spydercos, selling them off to fund the purchase of a couple of regular Sebenzas. I always end up re buying the following three. You'd think I'd learn... The PM 2, the Caly 3.5 and the Salt 1 in SE.

Caly3 CF is my current favorite Spydie, and the Delica4 FFG isn't far behind. For me, those are the top two "must-have" Spydercos.

The Endura4 FFG was my first Spyderco, and it still ranks among my top Spydies. That line of FRN lockbacks (Ladybug, Dragonfly, Delica, Endura) are all great knives. The Para2 and Native5 are also both very popular and are great knives. The Gayle Bradley and Stretch share some similarities as well.

The PM2 is the one to have. My advice when it comes to Spyderco is always to aim for the PM2 right from the start (ie save up to get it).

Yup. The Paramilitary 2 is the essential Spyderco. There's a reason it's always sold out! It's not just the essential Spyderco, either. If you're a lover of knives, you have to have at least one. It's a true classic knife, period.

You really need a Military and an Endura. Get the FFG ZDP189 Endura. Any flavor of Military. I have a bunch of the sprints, but find the plain vanilla s30 does just fine. Kind of hard to beat the s90 tho.
