Must have tips for free hand sharpening?

Just watched your video...excellent.

Kinda Ironic, I have been playing around with the "Japanese Style" of sharpening.

It's going to take me some more time to get used to it and to get to the point where I feel comfortable enough to say that I can do it and get the results I am looking for....

Gonna have to watch some more of your vids!

Thanks for watching!

I learned a lot of the fine tuning when I went through a 'machete phase' (am still in that phase to some extent). I used to do them on bonded abrasives glued to huge boards or brass plates and then decided to just do one on an 8" India stone. Hmmm, worked great and I learned a lot by applying the technique I had for use on a blade that size. All the issues of keeping the angle crisp, working in sections etc just get compounded on the larger tool.

Again, this is demo'd on a Washboard but the technique would be the same on any benchstone.
