Is there a chance we can decide a time and place soonish ?
I really want to go, but I have to fly 8,000 miles so it takes a few minutes to get ready.
I was planning to come home for Christmas and New Years.
Could we have a winter setting this year?
 
I'm up for it if Nasty is. Or maybe we could do a winter one in a southern locale so it'll be warmer? I'm up for anything as long as I hav time to put in leave.

It goes without saying that the more notice we have, the easier it is to plan for. I might even be able to talk the (by then) Little Missus into *attending. :D






*Unless I'm forgetting something particuarly inappropriate that happened, you guys were fairly civilized, and not too alarming for ladies company. ;)
 
I had a fantastic time, but if anything, I think as warm or warmer would be better. We did so much stuff outside.
 
My house is definitely warmer,although not quite as centrally located, but you are all welcome to plan it here. i have a 6 FT brick wall all around the back yard and I'm sure we can go out in the desert and find lots of places to hack up.

Early enough planning would make it easier for plane travel and we can probably find a hotel that will give a good rate for a group.

Offer is open for Phoenix.
 
A Mid-West khonvention in Phoenix?? Hmm......I'll have to think about that one. :)

But put me on the early signup list where ever it is. :D
 
Well, I would like to go this year, but hate to think about trusting a case full of knives to the airlines. Did any of you fly last year?

If it's AZ (or Nevada?), then I might just avoid the issue and drive.

Now I just traveled through Kansas and it is definitely bare. But it still snows up in that territory in the winter. and I think we may have trouble getting electric if we needed a microwave :rolleyes:

Well, Everyone start deciding. Maybe we should have everyone interested name a location between Phonix, Kansas, or maybe Austin,TX. Just a thought.

It occurs to me that HI has an international clientele. It is extremely ethnocentric of us to select a khon location that is convenient only for those of us in the USA. :(

To be truly fair, we should hold the khon at the geographic center of all of the earth's land mass. Fortunately, I believe that puts us somewhere in the middle of the beautifully scenic southern Atlantic Ocean. :D

(In fact, I think it might put us a little north of the "hurricane cradle" off the coast of Africa.) :p
 
Thassa little more than I'm willing to travel. Like Semp says: Midwest? I know Nasty would tack on another 2.5 hours to that drive.

(Now all ye guys who came from the east coast can call me a wimp).

Mebbe the folks who suggested the AZ location should check out the original HI khon in NV?

A convention in Reno would be fine, too. That way Uncle would hopefully be able to participate and has said there are places we could go to play. I'd volunteer to go up and make reservations and get a place reserved, if need be. There are lots of places in North Platte Nebraska.....Nasty are you up for a bigger one at your house again???

By the way Danny, where is home for you back here again?? I mean being how as you are traveling the farthest ;)
 
Back from Casa de Khukri at Yvsa's...

Yup...the MIDWEST Khonvention is welcome back as they didn't cut down the house AND we have an ample supply of mineral oil in what's left of the garage.

I see points all across the country (and in the middle of the ocean) being offered and think it's a great thing. I'd support having multiple smaller Khonventions is better than a single large one as they would allow greater participation as well as the intimacy and family feeling we shared at my home. I'd urge all to consider talking up and supporting such Khonventions.

The date is open...perhaps Memorial Day would be a better date though? It'd be both warmer AND support the desire the guys expressed of a longer Khonvention!
