My $1 dollar bowie

I plan on re-handling mine, but I'd like to get my hands on another one first, so I can have a before and after version. I"m not a fan of the guard...mine is the one that is keyed into the handle and blade. I want to go with a more traditional, more 3 dimensional version guard, made out of brass.

I find the smaller companion blade to be unattractive and useless, for the most part. However, if the one I find comes with it, I'll likely do them both to match.
 
It looks like at least some of these were branded and imported by Compass Industries, NY.

There is one on eBay now with the smaller knife and sheath on auction format for $19.99 and like $13 shipping
 
I get ya, I was just tossing it out there in case anyone was interested in it. Even at $20-30, these blades are a good candidate for upgrading into a really nice blade IMO
 
Just rehandled a Tramontina. I'll post some photos once i find a non-photobucket place to upload them. All the pics i uploaded to photobucket and posted in this thread are now non-viewable. Just when you think photobucket can't get any worse...
