My 10 old experienced users

Nothing like pics of user knives. Beautiful.
Especially the carving knife...reminds me of couple of knives my grandpa used to have - thinned out from use and sharpening.
As a kid, I couldn't understand why he won't buy new ones...Many years later I get it: the old users are irreplaceable...and the user/tool bond makes them priceless.
Thanks for posting.

My name is Samek and I'm a knifoholic. And axeoholic. And multitooloholic. And so on ….holic.

But, in long years there was formed (based on my experiences, habits, nostalgy and their usability) a group of knives and other cutting tools which are in everyday use and are my permanent companions.

Yeah, I love my knives, multitools, flashlights and other gadgets - it's so hard to not spend every spare dollar buying stuff.

As for your old knives: If you can keep them sharp and working well then there's no reason to not keep using them. I only got into knives about a year ago, but I have been carrying a SAK & Multi-tool every day for about 10 years - they are just so useful when you need them! One thing I did was learn how to sharpen - even the blades on my SAK & Multi-tool are sharp enough to easily shave arm hair. I find that a sharp knife can be used for all sorts of cutting tasks - it doesn't really matter how old that knife is, it just need to be sharp enough to slice through whatever you need it too.

I like the pictures you posted - those knives look like the real deal, knives that work for a living! Knives are designed to cut stuff, but many end up in drawers unused - your knives look like they have been used for what they were designed for, I'll bet each of them have cut plenty of stuff!

This is a cool thread. I have a box full of knives that looked good at the time, but never use, too. And I have a small handfull of old friends I go to all the time. Part of the fun is the journey.

You have some very nice looking tools.
