My brother-in-law came out of his house in London one morning last month to find his much loved Mercedes missing from the drive. He reported it to the police who took details and were not very optimistic.
The next morning the car was back with an envelope taped to the steering wheel. The note in the envelope was a profuse apology for the inconvenience caused and went on to say that the car was undamaged, had been fully valeted and filled with fuel. The writer claimed that he had been stranded, simply had to get home quickly and that as he was a Mercedes-trained mechanic, the answer was obvious. Finally, the note said that by way of compensation there were two theatre tickets in the glove box for a West End show the following saturday night..
Well, there were indeed and my sister & brother-in-law enjoyed a great night out. On returning home the house had been burgled and pretty much stripped bare.
Very clever idea for a comp. Thanks Absintheur.
Cheers
