I think the worst deal started with a Gerber FSII about 25 years or so ago - the blade positively flopped around even when open and supposedly locked! I wrote and complained about it after the dealer refused to do anything about it... Pete Gerber wrote back and apologized and replaced the knife with the stag version in addition to fixing my orignal and returning it to me - still have the orignal too.. my son got the stag. I guess that's why I like the older Gerbers.

Well i had a bowie a few years ago, it was pretty cheap (about $50 AUS). I was chopping a limb off a tree with my fave hatchet. The head flew off and hit the bowie, pretty much making it explode. No i know it was cheap, and i didn't try to return it. But the head didn't hit it extremely hard. The blade was in about 4 pieces. The other one was a craft knife that is modeled on a scalpel. It was supposedly "Razor sharp" and "sharper than surgical steel" I tell you what, if i saw a surgeon with s knife that blunt i'd see him in court. It couldn't even slice paper. Then again, it only cost me about three bucks. You get what you pay for, in general.

All knives are created equal, then i get my dirty big hands on them and the real fun begins.

I am not a "collector' by any means. I buy a knife carry it for several years until it gets worn and then retire it and get something else. So I haven't had OODDLES and OODLES of folders through my hands, BUT a long time ago as a youngster i fell for the pretty pictures in the catalog of a well known East Tennessee purveyor of A)Junk at low prices B)decent stuff for normal prices) C)More A than B. Any way i ordered a really neat bone handled folder, SS of course. The price was too good to be true. Of Course it turned out to be a Paki piece O'crap. Well finished(they do buff well) but the blade was so soft and so blunt that it was impossible to sharpen to any degree of keeness at all. I threw it away and vowed never Again!

The large Apogee I recently aquired. The lockup is great but for the $$ theres some detail problems. I'll post a review in the appropriate forum in the near future.
