I picked up a 2 dot 110 off the bay and it showed up today...
It is in great condition, hasn't had much use at all. It needs the normal cleaning and I didn't think the edge was as sharp as it could be.
So I got out the sharpening stuff and figured I'd take as much time as it took to get it as sharp as I possibly could (No work today)...

I decided to lay it back to 25 degrees and then finish the edge at 30 degrees.
I was using a towel to carefully wipe the stone residue off before polishing the edge and I felt it :D It was a thin towel and I wasn't using hardly any pressure at all, but it cut through the towel and sliced my thumb

I have now bonded with this knife and it is going to be with me next hunting season. I've had some very sharp knives but this one beats them all.
I even tried push cutting newspaper, but wasn't real hopeful because of the thickness of the blade... WRONG. It sliced through paper like a scalpel.

I know this probably isn't anything new to a lot of Buck owners, but I am happy beyond belief.

welcome to being a Buck owner!
care full as they are addicting!
like chips you cant jest have one!;) :D

Sorry, it doesn't count unless it required stitches. :D

Congrats on your new blade! Hope you enjoy it.

No stitches, but lots of the red stuff. If I would have been pressing a little harder and not paying attention like I normally do, it definetely would have needed some string.

Super glue works good on those thin line cuts! I remember my first 110 back in the late 70's. A friend of mine had one too, and he could open his one handed by flipping it out with his thumb. I guess I knew mine was sharp, so I was being careful and I just couldn't (or wouldn't)get enough thumb on it to make it open. My friend, Being the know everything kind of guy he was, Said to let him try it and he would show me how mine could be flipped open too. Well, To make a long story short, He left about half of his thumb print laying on the ground at our feet! He showed me mine could be flipped open, but I never did show him how to sharpen his!

To own a sharp Buck and never get cut, never happen. Great story, seaplane. 338375, what do you use, I have a Lansky and can create a mean edge. Sharpened a knife for a guy at work and he cut himself twice.

I've just got the basic Smith stones and a couple small diamond stones.
I'd like to have an Edge Pro :D

I've noticed those early 110's are like that, they cut very aggressive and when their sharp
you know it.I have a early 3 line 110 and can get that one respectfully sharp.Whereas my 110+ which I carry more I can get real sharp as well. Both will shave but the earlier one cuts much more agressive and maintains its edge longer.DM

The early steel was 425 wasn't it ? IIRC isn't this the steel that is supposed to be harder to sharpen ? Mine sure didn't seem all that bad. It's the oldest one I have and I really expected it to be a real chore.

338,The early steel was 440C 1962-1980. Then Buck changed to 425M in 1981 and 420HC in 1994.DM

110 was my first real knife. I recall it just felt right. Now, I am going to have to get another one. Your fault.....

The more I play with them, the more I really appreciate what they are.
The wife says they all look alike

Aint it the truth. I'm like a little kid everytime I get a knew nife and start
talking to her about it-she does the mandatory 25 second look of interest and just when I think I got her turned on to knives...she delivers the "I really dont care" Why do we do it? At least I have my 10 year old daughter convinced-shes extatic with the little 425 I gave her.:D(wife aint so happy about it:D:D:D:D)

Wait till you buy her a gun. My MIL was disgusted with me why I bought my boys a BB gun and a Chipmunk, but kept quiet. The boys are men and have moved on. I still have the guns. My boys aren't into knives, like me, but they appreciate the 110's, SAK's, and chef knives I give them, and good scouts that they were, take care of them. BBJ
