Saturday afternoon I went home to mom's house. On Sunday I went to my gun smiths house to show off the 1911. He liked it a lot. Aside from the trigger, rear sight and one other part I don't know the name of, It's stock. LOL!

The real fun came last night at the shooting range. Josh (shooting buddy) and I went after work with my 1911 and Ruger Single Six. He had 4 hand guns on him. Anyways, before shooting the 1911 this time I bought some Hoppe's 9 oil, and oiled everything I could. After cleanup and putting it back together I shot some 230 grain FMJ through it. Wow!! :D The first shot at 7 yards was a bulls eye. Same with the 3rd and 6th shots. Cutting the centers out of the targets was fun. 100 rounds down range last night puts my total to about 300 through the gun. Josh was also impressed.

He also got a new pistol, a Browning Buckmark, not sure the model, but it's stainless, bull barrel and competition sights. It's a tack driver. :) We both had a great time.

Just thought I'd let you guys know. BTW last time I went shooting I wasn't doing good. If you had seen those targets from last time you'd have though I had never shot before. Forgot to save last nights targets, didn't want to seem like a bragger. ;)

Thanks for the advice and chance to brag ;)

1911s are nice aren't they? JMB's marvelous creation is my preferred platform for a handgun. I didn't give other designs much consideration because I've always been drawn to the 1911. It's good that I can shoot it well; I don't have to go around searching for the "perfect handgun."

My fiancee bought me a 1911 for Christmas. I haven't received it yet, but when I do it'll be the third 1911 in my arsenal. I'm picking up my 2nd on Saturday.

I never should've gotten into guns. I thought knives were expensive. Guns are likely to send me to the poorhouse.

expressway to poorhouse?

uh...

some of us drive faster than others....

ahem

A Curio & Relic (C&R) license is the expressway to the poorhouse. $59/$79/gee-it's-only-$129 rifles by mail add up after a while.

I wish I could get my fix that way. Unfortunately all the guns I like seem to be of the more expensive variety. As we speak I'm waiting for my CMP Garand order to be filled. There goes $600. The next thing I'm going to get is a CZ-452 Trainer so that I can practice my long gun marksmanship more cheaply. That's another $350. After that I still have to pick up my 870 and build an AR. At this rate I'll never be able to afford a Sebenza.

Take a look at the CZ 513 .22, Kamagong.
I got one at Gander mountain for approx. $250 bucks.
The sights are pretty rudimentary, but it seems to be a decent rifle.
I am betting you can do better than that price on gunbroker or at a gunshow.

Also look at the 452. You can get a CZ452 Basic or Special for a little more than $250 if you ask around. They have much better sights than the the 513, in my opinion and an adjustable trigger. The 513 is a pretty darn good rifle, though.

Bought the 513 as a starter for our boys, age 8 and 13.
The 13 yr old has his Boy Scout Rifle Merit Badge, and the young one will shoot a little too this summer. Start 'em young, but train em right!
The old Anschutz I got in Germany as a boy needs some work, and the CZ was cheaper to buy than just the bolt parts I need for the Anschutz.

I just picked this up today. Nice and tight, with a great trigger. I changed out the stock grips for some maple burl ones. I'll be taking it out to the range tomorrow.

I have only one 1911. (Taurus PT1911) I like it a lot, and, unlike the Glock I used to have, the trigger is crisp and light, it points naturally, and I can hit what I am aiming at.

1911A1 .45acp is probably my favorite pistol of all time.

Watch out though because a 1911 likes to have company and pose for family portraits like this one does:

I don't know much about guns but I would really like the 1911's from the punisher, they look really nice. If I were going to get a gun it would most likely be a rifle and at that it would probably be a nagant with full customized wooden frame.

For anyone interested in pics of my Springfield, here they are: Heber's 1911 album

kamagong, who made your 1911? It's lovely, specially with those new grips.

markksr, I've shot that model USP. Was pretty descent with it though I'm better with a 1911, wouldn't mind both. ;) The Champian, is that made by Springfield?

Rat, you got any straght on shots of your 1911? Good looking gun.

Wolf_1989, anychance for a close up of your 1911? Nice combo by the way. :) Got a Ruger 10/22 and Single Six I can pair, wonder how my 1911 and my brothers SKS would look in a pic?

Thanks to all those that shared pics. I've been a little busy here and sick so this is my first real chance to respond. Thanks. I'd been eyeing 1911's by Springfield Armory and Colt for years. Glad I was finally able to get one 2 months ago. It's a keeper.

Gun shoots straight and goes Bang every time, but I am having what seems to be a magazine issue. Gun came with a Wilson 47D 8 round mag and I bough a Chip McCormick Power Mag (8 round) when I picked it up. If I load a magazine with 8 rounds, put magazine in pistol and drop the slide stop putting the gun into battery and chambering a round, there is a hang up. Seems like the bullet is catching in the barrel but I don't know for sure where it hangs up, thats just my guess. Now sometimes the slide gets stuck a full inch out of battery and sometimes 1/4". When it's about 1/2" to 1" I need to drop the mag rack the slide and remove the round, then put the mag back in and it works great. When it sticks at 1/4" I push on the back of the slide and it goes into battery. Pull the trigger, gun goes off, old shell ejects just fine and a new round is chambered just fine. Seems to only happen with 8 rounds in either magazine and it's not 100% of the time, about 50% of the time with the Chip and 80% of the time with the Wilson. Load only 7 rounds in a mag and no problem. Anyone have any sugestions? The feed ramp and barrel were polished from the factory. Also I am shooting 230 grain FMJ ball ammo in the gun which as you all know it was designed for.

Thanks,

Heber

Yes, it's a Springfield, that one is the GI Champion with Hogue grips.
The Glock 30 was my main carry until I got a .357 Ladysmith about a year ago. That lil' thing is just so much easier to carry down here in sunny (hot) Florida, I actually get mad looking at all my .45s...:D

Sweet guns guys!

Here are some of my pistols that I used for duty. 1st duty gun - Ruger Speed Six .357 Mag, 2nd duty gun - Kimber Gold Combat Custom Shop .45 ACP, and my current duty piece - Glock 21 SF customized.
