I had just thinned out my folders down to 4 users. Then I got that e-mail from botach, you guys like 'em so much I had to try one.got a CQC7A,plain edge satin, green g-10.
In one word, "stout".I do like it.Heres my run down.First off fit and finsh is very good.Opens smooth locks tight.Liner fully ingauges the tang a full width of the liner but no more
.The handle is comfortable in all grips and the g10 is roughed up just right to make it grab.
The disk is better than studs, imho.
On to the blade itself.I love the look and shape of this blade. Two things I really want in a blade is a strong tip,and an edge from tip to handle, this has both. One of the knives I just sold was an AFCK,one I've owned for years, the first knife I spent over $50 for, why? thin tip.I know its not a screwdriver, probe,or pry bar.I also know that those who work in public saftey will use the tool at hand and I've seen a lot of broken tips.
Da*n you guys! I was down to a work knife(bm710)an off the job knife(mt lcc)an airtravel blade, Spyderco Rookie, and a cs ex.lg.Voyager( out of state,no gun). Now I find myself carrying the CQC7A along with the BM or MT.
Sure I've seen the ads #1 hard use knives, and just thought,"hey its an ad"and nothing more, well now I'm not so sure.
Other than tests on cardbroard, ropes, and such the only thing I've cut was a heavy electrical cord.I was on a call and the person had tied their gate closed with a heavy electrical cord(getto padlock),sliced right though the 2 heavy copper wires and several small ones no sweat.no dull spots or damage either.
The only thing I would change, would be to try sqeeze a little more blade into the handle,I just have a thing for blade to handle ratios that are tight.
Oh well,4 knives or 5 I still got it under control.
