This is my first attempt at learning something of the knifemaker's craft. I started with a finished blank from "the auction site" in 440C, so it's decent steel.
I used my 1x30 belt sander to shape the grip, including a slight reprofile of the full tang. Scales are zebrawood, finished in Danish oil.
Pins are brass, full through the tang & scales, and I used thick cyanoacrylate adhesive for the glue up.
I have less than $25 in materials and have a nice user. It was a lot of fun, and I have several other blanks to work on when it warms up again.
Just doing this little bit has given me another level of respect for knifemakers.
