Thanks for all your kind words! This really was a labor of love. When I first decided to give this a try, I had had envisioned a much more ambitios blade design, but the more I read and after doing some test grinding I decided to start off with something simple and do it with as much care and skill as I could. I started out with a kit knife but put it aside to work with a blade that was all mine. I did my own heat treat, but was reluctant to do any testing that might break the knife. Time and use will tell how well it holds an edge. I think sometime soon I'll do a test blade to see what it takes to make it fail. I used an EZ Burner I made as the heat source, and plan on building a small forge for future heat treating (and maybe, well....forging!)The is a slight amount of warpage in the blade that I believe is from not heating the end of the tang as thoroughly as the rest of the blade. If anybody wants to comment on that I would appreciate it.
It's really great that people post pictures of their work here. The level of sophistication and craftsmanship is a little intimidating at times (could I EVER do anything like that?!)fortunately you guys aren't
But more so it's inspiring to know what can be done and how to do it.
I took the knife to work the day after I finished it to show some co-workers. One of the guys said it looked great, just like a knifemaker made it. It was so cool to be able to reply, a knifemaker (newbie)did make it.
I live in the city of Orange, a great place to live for being in the middle of a gazillion people.
Nick, my sister used to live in Washington. I visited there one Christmas, it was cold and dark. Water fell from the sky. They called it rain. (Was really beautiful, I almost didn't come home!)
Thanks again
Patrick
p.s. You know, it's a lot harder than it looks to take a good picture of a knife too!

A Republic: The flock gets to vote for which wolves vote on dinner.
A Constitutional Republic: Voting on dinner is expressly forbidden, and the sheep are armed.
