Christof, God No......unless your OCD is as bad as mine is! I spend most of my shop time sweeping and trying to find a better way. My best advice would be to find as many smiths as you can near you and get it together. Don't be shy (Like George!).Even if you all know a little it beats starring at a piece of bar stock wondering what to do next. Remember also......you can always make a neck knife out of the Bowie you mess up. And last but not lease(this is the plug!) call me when you screw up all the steel I sent you and I'll be happy to send some more!!

Just take the 1/4" I gave you and keep HITTING it until it's 1/8".Them you end up with thin stock and practice!
