If you've never been to Blade, you ought to make plans to go next year. Ka-Bar always offers some good show specials.
The past two years, they've had some factory-second 11's and 14's for $20. Below is one I picked up this year.
At the last Gathering, Moose taught me this loop-and-through cord wrap method.

And here it is after stripping the blade. I left the coating under the wrap.

And this picture is for Derek.
Actually, this is my fingertip after I sliced it open with the 14.
Thought I'd never get the sumbitch to stop bleeding so I could apply some Superglue.

Sweet deal. Really nice wrap job. So, um, where's the blem?

Every so slightly out of straight. Looking down the blade, I can't even tell it. Biggest blem is where they pinged it to mark it as a second.
Oh yeah, for about 15 seconds, Ka-Bar floated a $5 Spec-Ops Long deal, but your friendly moderators snagged them before they hit the table.

I bought 5 of the $20 specials. I gave three to the kids and the other 2 are slated for a friend and my dad. Smoking deals!

i shoulda probably snagged a few of those seconds...

ESP shoulda snagged some of that D2 Eskabar for $40 - smoking hot deal

but like some of those SMOKING HOT DEALS? we sold out early. by Sunday evening, we had a feeding frenzy, and were throwing money at the rear of the booth people wanted deals so fast.

quite a lot of people were buying clusters of knifes. $15 Doziers by the fistful. Seconds flew. Eskabars were gone by Saturday Afternoon earlish? and the BK11s were not far behind.

BK2s sold out first, and there was a lot of BK10s, and those sold out too. one family must've bought 4 of them, a TON of folders, and a lot of other stuff - they got a smoking package deal AND 2 sets of full size micarta for free.

you gotta get their early for those kinds of things. by Sunday morning, barring some Doziers, most of the big stuff was sold. not many boxes went back. perhaps 1/2 the pallet was promotional materials, signs, etc. the rest was the terribly large boxes that some of the gleanings live in. those boxes are bulky, but perhaps necessary.

quite a lot of sellouts through and through.

lots of people didn't notice the new Eugene Stoner knife in the presentation Gerstner box with JRE custom sheath. they should have. hot glue. magnificient. the price is stellar too ;)

great show

Yeah, I didn't make it out with a single Kabar blade this year.

WTH?!?!?!?!

Did scarf down some KA-BAR Brown Ale though.

I was breaking off some killer deals on Sunday morning, though. :D

Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!!!!! We only want the real buyers on Sunday. :D
