My 25....!

Well I've had my 25 now for a few weeks now. And I have to say that for a larger knife it carries clipped in my pocket very well. Before I only carried 3 inch or under blades. But now I have been converted. I would say to anyone that would be turned off by the larger size to give it a try at least.
The 25 is a very well built knife. I'm not only talking about the craftsmanship and tolerances here. Which is absolutely true! As with any CRK. But the 25 is very stout and sturdy knife. Has the feeling of a tank!! Which I've owned ZT, and thats what everyone infers about them. I also own small 21, large 21 insingo, and a Mnandi. The 21's are solid knives. But the 25 has a more solid and robust feel.
I noticed that when I received my large insingo and carried that for a few days before going back to the 25. Definitely a difference I noticed in the feel and hand. It fits in the hand nicely with the finger grooves. I don't feel that they interfere will doing any of my cutting tasks.
The 21's are a little smoother but the 25 is getting there. As with use with the sebenza the more it smooths out. The detent is stronger to overcome on the 25, which you could argue that makes it less smooth. Still very smooth operation! The blade holds an edge very well. I've stropped many times just to maintain my edge. And now I have sharpened once freehand. And was easy enough to sharpen being that I've only free handed maybe 5 or 6 times.
I've put this knife through some pretty good use being an industrial electrician. Using the 25 for all my cutting tasks. It excels in every task I've put it thru. The 25 is more difficult to take apart and put together. But with experience I believe it should become more easy. I have also noticed that the titanium scales are definitely lighter in color than the 21. Which I like. And like many have said the 21 has many great things and so does the 25. I hear a lot of people complain about the non bushing. And I have to say I don't notice any hinderance of the 25 not being bushing. I think it's just an idea some of you aren't comfortable with. The 25 is a great EDC knife. And I really like the more aggressive jimping. And I highly recommend to try if you've been thinking about. I went from the small 21 to this. Very nice transition I must say. Especially for not being a bigger knife guy. And now I am. At least with the sebenza.
I just wanted to let you all know about my experience with the 25. And here it is. let me know what you think :)

Thank you for your thoughts on your Sebenza 25. They are in high demand and for good reason. I'm hoping to get an email that more are in stock soon. :)

Nice review. You make a great point with the 25 being easy to carry and somehow the blade has a magical quality of appearing smaller than it is. I felt the same way as I carried a small Insingo and when I switched to the 25, it felt so natural and so right. I really blame the Sebenza 25 though, as it ruined me and I can no longer be happy carrying a 21. It is ok though as my Ti-lock steps in from time to time to make it all better. :D ..........glad you like the 25!

Looks like rainerarms and monkeyedge have in stock! Check it out if you don't hear good news from your email.

Thanks for sharing! Because of the size, I am on the fence. It's not that I don't like larger knives, I just can't carry them except for weekends and I don't like that limitation. I am still prob going to end up getting one though because of reviews like this that I keep reading! I feel like I am missing out....

I'm really beginning to like my 25. It's funny, the talk about over built this and tank that... The 25 feels stronger and tougher to me than any other knife I've owned and I've owned some "tanks".

I am (and always will be, I think) bothered by the pivot. The reason why is because the old pivot was marvelous in the true sense of the word to me. It set Sebenza apart from every other knife, and knife maker. As far as I can tell (and no one has disputed this) the change was a cost saving move, it certainly didn't make dis and re-assembly easier. I'm beginning to look at it a *little* diffently though, in that they may have added cost in other areas. The thicker blade stock, lock interface, etc... Without raising the price. Not to mention R&D costs must have been substantial for the small company...

Hmm... Okay, maybe the pivot isn't that big a deal after all (yes, I know I'm fickle :p ), especially since it IS a little different than other makers with the locating tab, perforations and lock notch.

The bottom line (imo) is that it's a different knife than the old Sebenza, but nevertheless, it deserves to wear the name. ;)

Well thanks for all your input. And I hope I have helped anyone with lingering questions about the 25. I just got back from vacation where I didn't have it on me. Glad to have it back in my pocket. I think I'm going to go destroy a giant box in my garage with it and stuff it in the recycling can :)

I've been loving carrying my Large 21 as an EDC, and I was concerned that the extra weight of the 25 would make it uncomfortable..yet all I read about is people saying how well it rides in the pocket. I'm convinced, I gotta get a 25 now!

I've been eyeing one on the exchange the past couple days... and because of this thread I just pulled the trigger on it. :D

Well congratulations! You will enjoy I'm sure of it!! Let me know what you think when you get and put some use on it

I also just picked one up from the exchange, I haven't been able to put it down since it got here last saturday, The finger grooves & the new style jimpping make the hole knife, Without even mentioning the new style pivot system, Chris hit a home run on this one.......

I have said this before. I traded an XM-18 for a Sebenza 25 and a bunch of cash (almost to buy another sebenza 25 outright;) ). I agree with all of your thoughts. The 25 is a beast and a beauty a the same time. In my opinion, it can't be beat.

Oh the dreaded wait! Haha! Nice in the field pic PiterM! And congrats to all the new owners!!

It's finally here! My initial impression was...Wow. I'm very impressed. When I first went to open it, I was surprised at how strong the detent is, it's VERY strong compared to the 21 and as I sit here and play with it it is tearing my thumb up a good bit. I'm hoping it smooths out in time. Now the finger grooves, I absolutely love. The 25 almost melts into your hand, and you're really able to lock your hand into the knife. The new jimping style on the spine is absolutely incredible, definitely a fan. And man, the 25 locks up like a bank vault every time! The new almost FFG is definitely welcomed by me, and I do like the extra belly on the 25. The 25 came with the best edge I've ever seen from factory on a Chris Reeve; my other CRK's have come sharp, but never THIS sharp. My 25 has a mirror edge straight from the box, truly incredible and very impressed by that. Looking forward to putting this knife to some real use. While it's incredible, I still don't think it will entirely replace my 21, but time will tell. Now enough of my talking, here's some pictures!
