My 25....!

I got mine last saturday & It was carried lightly, I also thought that the detent was super strong, I have been sitting in my recliner watching the boob tube working the action and it has loosened up considerably, what worked good for me was using my thumb & my index finger on the back thumb stud at the same time till it loosened up a little.

That's what I've been having to do. I'm trying to work it in as much as I can, but man it's killing my thumb! Hopefully I can get it to a looser, more 21-like detent.

The ceramic ball will wear a little groove in the blade and hence the edge of the detent hole. It will smooth out with time. Is it smooth but tight after you pass the detent? You may try to loosen the pivot a tiny bit.

Once I get past the detent, it's fine, and opens like my 21. Guess I'll just have to keep playing with it until it smooths out.

I love my Seb 25, and I agree its an incredibly robust and sturdy knife, even more so than the 21. Regardless, the Small 21 is by far my favorite, but that is probably due to size and not build. I can only speculate that the Small 25 will be incredibly popular.

I've never been much of a small sebenza guy, but I think that I'll be picking up a Small 25 once they come out. Having a knife with this kind of strength in a nice small package would be amazing!

My 25 smoothed out a bit, although I do think part of it has to do with my thumb learning to do it better. I *almost* chamfered the hole but thought better of it and I'm glad I did. I'm sure it would have been fine, but if you work it long enough it's not necessary.

I also wonder if the constant cycling of the lock makes the lock bar a little less aggressive in pressure. I wonder because I pushed the lock bar out of the way to see how the blade moves without the detent on it (not hyperextension mind, just a hair more than usual) and it seemed like it opened a (very slightly) bit easier. It very well could be my imagination though.

In any case, SOMETHING will happen over time that will allow you to open the knife easier than you do now, whether that be the blade wearing in, the lock bar relaxing a tad bit, or just your hand learning the optimum way of doing it. ;)

Great to hear!

Honestly the detent has stayed the same on mine through its use. I think it has to do with how you open the blade with the thumb studs. It may seem harder to over come, I can still thumb flick with no problem! Just something to get used too.

I've started to notice that I really have to come at it with a sweeping motion from the side, I can't just use the same technique as I use to open my 21. It's taking some practice, but I'm slowly getting used to it. I'm only on day 2 of owning it, so I've got plenty of time to learn!
