Finished up my 2nd knife last week and have been using it to see how it holds an edge.I must say I am satisfied with how it turned out.Far better than my first and I'm not even gonna go there.
The blade is made out of an old 10'' table saw blade that I found in my Grandfathers wood shop when we were going through some stuff after he passed away. From what I understand they are L6 steel and make decent knives.I heat treated in a homemade forge, brought the steel upto non magnetic and quenched in used motor oil.I then tempered it in the at 400 degrees for 1 hour 2 times. It seems to hold an edge pretty good and is easy to resharpen.I have been using it cut bait fish and whittle wood for the past week or so and only resharpened it today.
Blade length is 4'' and OAL is 8 1/4'' w/ Bocote for the handle and brass pins.
