Finished up my 2nd knife last week and have been using it to see how it holds an edge.I must say I am satisfied with how it turned out.Far better than my first and I'm not even gonna go there.

The blade is made out of an old 10'' table saw blade that I found in my Grandfathers wood shop when we were going through some stuff after he passed away. From what I understand they are L6 steel and make decent knives.I heat treated in a homemade forge, brought the steel upto non magnetic and quenched in used motor oil.I then tempered it in the at 400 degrees for 1 hour 2 times. It seems to hold an edge pretty good and is easy to resharpen.I have been using it cut bait fish and whittle wood for the past week or so and only resharpened it today.

Blade length is 4'' and OAL is 8 1/4'' w/ Bocote for the handle and brass pins.

Looks great.

I did my first out of 5160, heat treated in a hibachi grill, and quenched in old Racing motorcycle oil.

Oven tempered.

I like the wood on the handle as well.

I still need to finish up my 2nd and 3rd (my 1st started project is still waiting to be finished because I made a chopper with a 12+ inch blade with no way to heat treat it).

Looks awesome, hope my second is that nice

Sorry to threadjack, especially with my first post, but I was recently given a little cast iron hibachi. How do you regulate the temp in it? Are you using coals for heat? They don't seem hot enough. Forgive my ignorance but I'm new around this part of BF.
