I know. The northern isolated fly in reserve that my wife and I were on: gallon of milk $14.00, a medium sized cabbage $9.00 etc. As an outsider you learn to hunt/fish the local food sources pretty quick, or pay through the nose for everything.

I suspect you know how much they rip us northerners off on cheeze. Man, for a block of cheeze in NS was like $3, out heres its like $15.

What province or territory is "out here" Fonly. Canada is a big country buddy.:D My best advice for anyone flying into the north or a remote location, is negotiate as much free freight shipping as possible from your employer. When we went I planned and researched all of this and came out well compared to others that arrived. We shipped (on the school/reserves nickel) a bread machine, 100 pounds of flour, 100 lbs. of rice etc.,etc. We had a lot of long term staples were some of the other teachers arrived with their clothes, resource materials, a wish and a prayer. There were times when you couldn't get bread up there for 3-4 days but that didn't affect us.

Northern Alberta, great place but too cold.

I was on an oil clean up crew many years ago in High level? Alberta, can't remember now. Just watch for bears in a month or two, like fleas up there and they will be hungry.:D Good enough reason to strap on that BK-7, if you're not in a city.
