My $32.99 blade upgrade arrived today...Don't you just love that feeling you get when you see a small box in your mailbox??? :D

Here's a pic -

The bolsters appear to be nickel silver, but might just be nickel plated crapsteel...the scales look to me to be imitation-jigged plastic...the brass looks real...the blade steel is unknown, but is most likely 1020 steel...it's just about sharp enough to cut butter...

What's that, you say??? It's not a Buck??? Well, no...no, it's not a Buck - it's what I bought with the money I would have spent on a blade upgrade for one of my Buck 110's, if Buck still offered blade upgrades...since they don't, this was my second choice (Wal-Mart still doesn't have the 3-knife Remington holiday set)... :)

If this knife looks familiar, it's because I bought one exactly like it at the beginning of the Summer. It's been taped to the seat frame of my Xterra for emergencies, but it keeps getting ripped out and used for lunches, rope tows, tieing down motorcycles, cutting duct tape, etc...so that one will stay in the Xterra with the ball peen hammer, and this one will go on my belt. ;)

Trax I am ummm errr speechless.. that Remington is ummm how do we say.... interesting. Would not a standard "walmart" 110 been better?

Thing is... in the UK Walmart is ASDA AFAIK. And they only offer mince pies and xmas puddings... no decent knives at all... I know that buck are not offering much in the way of blade upgrades but you should count yourself lucky... to buy a Buck 110 in the UK is nearly $140US and I would be snapping them up all day long at $30...so... you can understand why I am comfused

I can understand your confusion. A village police officer set me straight on seat belts, SUVs, and gravity. In a nutshell, gravity is what keeps you trapped in an overturned SUV - the seat belt won't detach with weight on the clasp. Cutting the belt is the only way to get out. A straight blade will cut you as well. The shroud-cutting blade (the other one) has a blunt end - you can jam it in your side far enough to get under the seat belt, and hopefully cut it before anything worse happens. ;)

(The ball peen hammer is to break a side window. Electric window lifts also depend on gravity.) :o

It's actually a nicely made knife. And a Wal-Mart yellow-box Buck 110, contrary to what you may read here, still costs $29.99...

ahhh I got ya.. I thought seeing as you spent your blade upgrade money that you was gonna use the upgraded 110 in the SUV... my bad sorry..

But still $30 is roughly £18.... GOD DONT I JUST WISH! :(

Mince pie...
I would take a 110 and make short work of that mince pie...even if the local bobby had take me in to wear the broad arrow.

My personal experience has been using my head to break the side window  , although not on purpose, but that was before we had side curtain airbags:D I haven't "tested" anything for a couple of decades:)

Check your e-mail my fellow fowl...

Check yours as well!...

I just checked the active auctions on eBay - the 2-blade is going for ~$60+, BIN and/or high bids...

I can buy two Remingtons for that...

It only has to be used once...after that, the vehicle will no longer be usable...

Trax sounds like you described this knife to a T!!!!!
And it won't let you down, not even once ;)
AND it can be had for $30.00 - $40.00.
I sure love mine!!!!!

For quite a few $$$ more... :grumpy:

Buy It Now price: US $45.99

Shipping costs: US $9.99

The $32.99 included shipping...

Right here it is!!
I got mine for $35.00 and its a BUCK!!!!!!! Just gotta watch for the deals :D

  Why because I read your post above?

No, no...but it is nice that you read it...you have a nice looking survival knife that you like...

But it's not what I described, and not what I was looking for...

The BU180LS (or LC) would do me nicely...but not at $60+... :(
