So here are the two knives I have been working on. Been so busy but I'm stoked to finally have had the time to get out and keep learning!

Both are stock removal from Kelly Cupples 1080 1/8" steel.

First is 5 1/2 inches overall w/ 2 inch blade and Mexican Cocobolo scales. Both blade and scales sanded to 600 grit and scales finished w/ two coats of Tru-Oil and then a coat of Carnauba Wax.

Second is 7 1/2 inches overall w/ 3 1/8 inch blade and Macassar Ebony scales. Blade sanded to 600 grit then finished w/ forced patina. Scales sanded to 1500 grit then two coats of Tru-Oil then one coat of Carnauba Wax.

Thanks guys, that means a lot coming from this crowd! :)

Been struggling to get consistent grinds and plunge lines on each side with my HF 1x30 but with a little patience I'm getting a little better at it. Can't wait for a 2x72!

Figured if I'm going to do this like the pro's do that I should start out freehanding the grinds but I think I may try to mock up some jigs in the near future because I'd like to get the plunge line between the ricasso and blade a little more crisp at the top and save some time sanding the bevels.

Nice stuff! I took the liberty of hotlinking them here. Hope you don't mind.

I'm using the same 1x30 so I understand your struggle. I had to modify mine quite a bit before the everything lined up. Nice knives.

Not at all Salem, thank you! Can I do that just being a registered user on here?

And thanks again Sam! I'd love to start selling at some point in the near future here but I'd really like to know that my heat treats are dead on and consistent. I'd also like to get some blades into the hands of some of you guys here to see if they're up to par for what I'm working with as well, that way I can make any necessary improvements/modifications before putting them out and avoid embarrassing myself! ;)

Wown, you can try it... just copy a "direct" link to your pic, from the right side of your Photobucket screen when viewing an image. Then, come here and either use the "image" tool in the posting window, or manually paste the link into your post, then put
right after it.
