Much better my friend! There are some versions of Dymondwood that do look good, sadly the last set was one of those that are "iffy" at best.

I like it much more now. Surprising how much difference good handle materials can make. Keep up the good work. You're doing great.

While it takes artistic skill to create a blade of the right proportions and is pleasing to the eye...what MAKES the knife is the handle. You can take a knife of the most brilliantly patterned damascus, etched perfectly to stunning levels, and throw a crappy handle on it and it ruins the knife.

Just like building custom cars, if everything is perfect and you put the wrong paint job or wheels on it...the look you are striving to achieve is lost.

You know, when I first saw that laminate (called pakkawood back then) in the mid 80's, ?I thought it was the neatest stuff ever. Having used it and seen it on so many cheap knives at gun shows, I don't like it nearly as much anymore. Much like your result here, I'm wishing I hadn't used it. The ironwood looks so much better(and I liked the laminate). . . I may have to redo the mushroom knife my son and I gave my wife. . . Now, if we could just convince people the same about micarta. . . .

I notice the handle is about 1/4" longer. Upon review, it also looks better at that length.

Yes, someday I will probably look back and wonder why I didn't use to like micarta.
