First off, I know there are a couple other giveaways happening on the Porch right now (waynorth's Texas Camp Knife giveaway, average gimp's Grab Bag giveaway... I hope there aren't any others I'm missing), so hopefully I'm not stepping on on any toes here (and my apologies if anyone feels that I am). I was going to wait until there weren't any others going on, but that rarely seems to happen around here :D, so here we go...

This a giveaway!

I've wanted to do this for a while now. I've been hanging around here on the Porch since last September (despite what that "Join Date" up in the corner says, I honestly don't remember joining the forum back then, but I'm assuming it had something to do with Benchmade knives, as that's about all I was carrying back in those days). Anyways, I came here (probably like many of you) because somewhere I saw a picture of one of Charlie's TC Barlows, and I thought it was such a cool knife that I had to find out more. I had no familiarity with GEC, and only a slight interest in traditionals (I'd picked up a Case knife or two over the years, and had a couple old knives that had belonged to my grandpa). The more I learned, and the more I saw... well, I was hooked. I have way too many GEC knives now (though I'm still on the hunt for that elusive TC), several Case knives, a couple Queens, some Rough Riders and several older knives as well. Traditionals are pretty much all I carry anymore.

More than the knives, though, I've appreciated the people here on the Porch. All of y'all are so friendly and generous with your time, your knowledge and sometimes your knives, that it just feels like a great place to be. So I wanted to give back a little.

One thing that I've always enjoyed about many of the giveaways here are the creative ideas some of y'all come up with. Photo contests, stories, themes, etc. I tried to think up something creative... and, well, I didn't come up with anything. But, because I'd like for this thing to have some substance other than just "I'm in," here are the criteria for this giveaway:

  • You must be a regular here in Traditionals (let's say 30 posts as of the start of this thread).
  • You must post a photo of a traditional knife. It can be an artsy photo, or it can be a non-artsy photo. It can be a photo of your favorite knife, or a photo of a knife you don't particularly care for. It can be a photo of you using said knife for some task, or a photo of the knife sitting in a drawer. Doesn't matter. Just post a photo.
So here are the prizes (all brand new).

First, a Case Mini Trapper in Chestnut Bone (CV):

And finally, a Rough Rider 4-Blade Stockman (complete with cap lifter! :D) in Amber Jigged Bone:

I'll let this thing run until the evening of Sunday, April 17th. At that point, I'll use some sort of randomizing contraption to chose a first-place winner, a second-place winner and a third-place winner. First place gets first choice of the knives above, and so on. No restriction on location (I'll figure out a way to ship it to wherever you are). So have at it! And THANK YOU to all of y'all here who make this place awesome! :D

I have never won a GAW - so I don't buck the trend I will go with an early post...

A couple I picked up recently...

Not an entry, just to say thanks for the generosity Barrett, great lookin' knives! Good luck to all.

Not an entry.
Just wanted to thank you Barrett, some nice knives and an some Great generosity being shown!

That RR is now on my radar, it reminds me of an older schrade Walden trapper that I modded the spey into a cap lifter for a friend.

Thanks again!

Awesome, Thank you very much for the opportunity!
My wife took this picture about halfway up Monte Rite in the Italian Dolomite Alps as we climbed to the Rifugio on top to stay the night. One of the best days of my life! We woke the next morning and drank coffee on the mountain top when a herd of yaks came by (and I took my profile picture).

I brought my Victorinox Electrician Plus and an Opinel #9 on this trip. It was in Italy that I began to appreciate traditional knives!

Barrett, congratulations on your 626th post!!! A very special mile stone for which you have every right to be proud.:D:)
Seriously though... thank you for your generosity and contributions to this forum, you are one of those helping make the Porch awesome.:thumbup:

How generous! Not an entry as well, but I do loving seeing give-aways! It's always nice to make someone else's day with a small present

What a great and generous GAW Barrett I would love to participate. Here's a picture of an old redneck, hillbilly, southern boy knife from an old redneck, hillbilly, southern boy. :D

I don't normally enter in give-aways, but hey these are 3 patterns I've yet to try out. So.... My #47 Viper Green Glass bone, that came from the factory with terribly sharp and jagged jigging. This is it after some sanding and buffing.

Per instructions...a knife I don't like very much in a drawer.

Thanks for the generous GAW, Barrett!:thumbup:
Sometimes I'll post a "not an entry" in a GAW thread, noting that many other entrants would probably appreciate the knife being offered more than I would. But that is NOT the case here!!:eek: This is definitely an entry, because I think I'd appreciate any one of those 3 knives as much as anyone!

I already have several Case CV models in jigged chestnut bone that I really enjoy, and would be thrilled to add the matching mini trapper.
I've heard so many good things about A.G. Russell, and getting that barlow as my first example would be fantastic and fortunate.
My heart belongs to Rough Rider as far as pocket knives are concerned, and amber jigged bone is my favorite RR cover material, so that stockman plus bottle opener is a gem IMHO.

Thanks again, Barrett, and good luck to all the entrants! :D My photo is a Camillus electrician's knife that I picked up cheap at one of the first gun & knife shows I attended; I think it's one of the best looking knives I possess! ;)

Congrats, my 626 came and went before I realized it. I will be sure to celebrate my 1217th post. Very generous GAW and I concur with all your sentiments about the porch.

This is a knife that I picked up in Italy when visiting my daughter while she was studying there.
