Apparently my bladeforums account was hacked and knives were fraudulently sold under my name. This was not me. I listed two knives on February 20 in this thread:

Both were sold and delivered and I have not posted anything for sale since. I just now regained access to my account with the help of the forum admins.

If you were caught up in this, I'm sincerely sorry, but again, IT WAS NOT ME. My feedback as a seller is 100% positive.

Can we get more details on how your account was hacked? So other members can protect themselves?

Unfortunately I wasn't able to learn much in the way of details, but in all likelihood my password just wasn't strong enough.

Back in September of 2021, I visited Blade Forums (it had been a week or so since I'd gone on the site) and to my horror, I got the following message: "You have been banned for the following reason: Hacked account."

I ended up creating a temporary account and requesting help in the Tech Support forum: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/request-for-help-to-restore-hacked-account-brancron.1813730/. Spark eventually got my situation reversed. I changed my password to a very strong, unique one and will be more careful about my passwords in the future.

But the hacker "sold" a Benchmade 940 to someone for $80 (via PayPal friends and family) and of course never sent it. The person who got scammed emailed me (after seeing my thread in the Tech Support forum, I believe) and shared the PMs with the hacker, who had very broken English and was likely based outside the US. The hacker's PayPal email was kjacinta902@gmail.com.

I felt so bad for the person who got scammed that I sent him a couple of knives as an offer of condolence (I don't remember exactly what they were).

My account was hacked too on my credit cards last week, both of my Master Cards ~ Someone went on a shopping spree at Amazon ~ welcome to electronic banking and retail services ~
At least you’re not liable for it. But if they get your debit card info (if you have one)… Watch out! 😵

Have you been to an old style eatery where you physically hand your card to a waiter? Sometimes they’ll write down the three digit code and your other info and then promptly sell it online. Or use it themselves I suppose.
